Ray Allen reportedly drawing interest from Clippers; Paul Pierce from Clippers, Lakers, Rockets

According to A. Sherrod Blakely, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce are drawing the most trade interest among any of the Boston Celtics. Allen is reportedly being sought after by the Los Angeles Clippers, while Pierce’s suitors include the Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets.
Among those believed to have some interest in Allen, are the Los Angeles Clippers. With the season-ending injury to Chauncey Billups, the Clippers have a huge void to fill at the shooting guard position.
As for Pierce, he still has two years remaining on his contract after this season (the final year is partially guaranteed), but he’s still one of the better one-on-one scorers in the NBA. Adding a player like Pierce, either as a starter or coming off the bench, could provide some much-needed depth to a title contender or a playoff team looking to improve their standing. Some of the teams believed to have interest in Pierce include both of his hometown teams — the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers — as well as the Houston Rockets.
If the Celtics do trade Pierce and/or Allen, they would presumably want young players, expiring contracts and draft picks in return. Since the interested parties are looking to solidify playoff rosters, it’s unlikely any of them will be offering veteran stars in return. It would obviously be heavenly if Otis Smith would join the fray, picking up the phone to say, “so, umm, Ray Allen for Dwight Howard?”, but that shouldn’t be considered plausible, even if you have an autographed picture of Satch Sanders hanging above your bed and view the world through a Celtics-green kaleidoscope.
Allen and Pierce have value. But the Celtics should only move them if they can improve their future standing, and even then, I would hesitate to trade Pierce, a Celtics lifer who has earned the right to retire in Boston if he so chooses.

Don’t trade Pierce. Just don’t do it. If you trade RA, ask for Andrew Bynum it Deandre Jordan in return. But don’t trade Pierce. He deserves to retire in Green.

I’m so sick and tired of this damn ‘trade ‘em if you can get value crap’.
No. None of the Big Four should be traded, unless it’s like Dwight Howard and Lebron for Ray Allen. No no no.
Shut down the Damned Ainge Express. SHUT IT DOWN.
Loyalty does mean something still, even if it’s lost on Celtics fans, writers and gms.
And the bird in the bush is often crap.

paul…take a valium please. this is not the Ainge Express moving players. these are unsubstantiated rumors. Who wouldn’t want RA or PP, especially when it appears the Cs suck (17-17)? Nothing is going to happen and I believe RA will be back with the Cs next year coming off the bench. DA is smart enough to know this group, if healthy, can win it all. Go Cs…

And how do you know my feelings for DA? While I support him I’ve never said he’s infallible, and I certainly do not “love” him. You have always accused me of leading his fan club, so I said why not. I love the Celtics and at the moment like what DA is doing but can barely tolerate Doc who has no understanding about the value of rebounding and not being last in the league. Heard great comments from Stephen Smith and Skip Bayless today on ESPN First Take re the Rondo rumors and I think everyone needs to listen to their comments. Again, when something happens, and I doubt it will, then is when the commentary should begin. Go Cs…annihilate the Nets please!

Comments will be up later today or tomorrow –
http://search.espn.go.com/first-take/
Basically, Stephen went off saying all the rumors are bs and that while he doesn’t believe DA a lot (a GMs tactic to mislead, etc.) he believes everything and anything Doc says/said. He holds doc to the highest standard as he has known him for years. Then Skip chimed in and upped the ante saying it’s all bs, but he thinks RR will be traded in the summer because RR hates to lose so much. Very interesting comments and I will post the comments tomorrow, or as soon as I see them up. Go Cs…

You are so sweet, hun!
I actually agree with you. I mean, if someone offers us Dwight Howard for Ray Allen, yeah, I think that’s one you have to take.

If you must trade Ray ok – makes more sense than Rondo. Just don’t take a multi year stiff for an expiring contract.
If you trade Paul – I am out. I am a lifelong fan but if the C’s let Ainge trade PP ever – I cash in my chips

Ainge can be trigger happy at times. I don’t see what value the C’s can get as of now for an aging Allen and Pierce? The Clippers aren’t deep enough to offer young pieces in return. The Rockets have young pieces, but why would they give them up for an aging Pierce, that will likely retire next season or 2014.
There’s no question the C’s have been playing uninspired
basketball, but let the Big 3 ride into the sunset together, then rebuild after this season is over, but I wouldn’t give up on this season.

What I would like to see happen is Allen, KG and Pierce fade away gracefully with the Cs, helping the young-uns develop. We already see this starting to happen with KG, who is spending a lot of time playing with the bench, and who seems to like it.

I would prefer to keep the gang together. But if Ainge do desperately wants to shake up the team, then RA is our most expendable player out of the big 3. But only for Jordan or Bynum. Nobody else.

Nobody’s going anywhere people. RA will be back next season firing as the Sixth man. Instant offense like Vinnie Johnson. Makes the most sense unless some great young talent is floated, which I do not think any team will do. Go Cs…

It’s a funny idea to trade Rondo, blaming it on his bad attitude, for the Coach Killer and Team Wrecker…

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of accounts that derron is not a team player and doesn’t really have a warm personality. How do you think that would work in Boston where he would be forced to be humble? Not so well.

so wed just be trading one asshole for another i guess.one cant shoot and gets sagged off and requires perfect execution of a strategy that doesnt fir the team to win,and the other would be spreading the floor and draining 3′s.ill take the second asshole.

Ok, well trade Allen and Pierce, to the Clippers. 2 for 1 deal. They get Ray and Paul and we get Blake Griffin.

I’m against trading Paul Pierce unless he wants it… he’s earned the right to retire a Celtic, but if this could happen… I’d LOVE to see Blake Griffin team up with Rondo.

Yeah, it was pretty interesting. Skip questioned Da calling RR the Cs best player (he thinks PP is) but we all know that RR is and he is the future to build around. Glad all the bs is dying down, now to get to 3/15 and over this crap. Go Cs…

Yeah same here. People are still miles away from acknowledging Rondo as an elite PG though.

I could careless (obviously) what others think. RR is the best PG in the game and I would not take any other PG in return. The kid is fearless and really understands the game. Can you image how great he’d be if he had some young bigs/wings to run with; if the rebounding was say in the top 1o of the league? I think DA realizes this and hopefully we get some FAs next season but keep KG & RA and have RA come off the bench. This team could be scary great next season with a decent center (like if that idiot West had chosen the Cs instead of Indiana). Go Cs…

I’d ship RA out to the Clippers for Randy Foye and their young prospect Eric Bledsoe.
Bledsoe can play PG/SG … if we move Rondo he could be the point guard of the future.

I think if we could trade Allen and Pierce for Chris Paul and Blake Griffen then Rondo would be backup point guard and Paul would be point guard and Griffen would take pierce’s spot!
