Celtics 105, Warriors 103: Kevin Garnett game-winner gives Celtics a win

(Do not talk about the possibility that tonight was the final night of the Big Three Era, Jay.)

(Don’t do it.)

(Please don’t ruin a game winning shot, you F*$&ing asshole.)

Okay, fine. But that wouldn’t have been the worst way to end it, with Paul Pierce patiently finding Kevin Garnett for a game-winning jumper.

It’s supremely late, I just spent two and a half hours listening to Donny Marshall and I really don’t know how to describe Klay Thompson scoring 26 points in an NBA game, so I’m going to bullet point a few thangs:

— You know that last pickup game of the day, when nobody wants to play anymore, zero defense is evident and everyone is stuck in park because, hell, these games have been going on for three hours and none of these fat bastards are in shape to begin with?  Nate Robinson was born for games like those. Which is why he played better tonight than he ever did while wearing green. There’s always that one dude in the final pickup game who dominates just because he sprints up and down the court when nobody else wants to.

– Here’s an email I received from a buddy about Greg Stiemsma the other night: “This game and the remainder of the season for the Cs: ‘Reasons why Greg Stiemsma should have been playing more earlier in the season.’ To get more acclimated to the game. We knew we’d need him; it was just a matter of time.”

Stiemer looked plenty acclimated tonight. But a quick warning: It’s a lot easier to compete against David Lee and co. than it is to compete against anything that resembles a defense. Stiemer looks like he put on a little weight since the beginning of the season, but he needs more physicality if he wants to succeed on a more consistent basis.

And yes, Doc should have played Stiemer more often earlier in the season. With Jermaine O’Neal the only other true center on the roster, there was always a 175 percent chance Stiemer would join the rotation at some point.

– Rondo’s around-the-back pass to Ray gave an angel its wings.

– But my favorite moment of the game? When Robinson passed to an open teammate (I think it was Klay Thompson) for three, then turned to the crowd to celebrate before Thompson even shot. Of course, the shot clanged off the rim and Robinson looked like a jackass. But it was fun.

– Mickael Pietrus made more threes in the first half than he had the rest of March. That’s awesome, except for what it means about the rest of his March.

– Kevin Garnett was brilliant in the fourth. In every way. Everything he did worked, even when he forewent a wide open dunk to wait for David Lee to recover, then fell backwards while hitting a wild and-one.

– The absurd road trip has started 2-1. It should probably be 3-0. I’m very excited about this.

– I’ll leave you with a prediction: I don’t think the Celtics will make a big move prior to the deadline. Then again, I went into the 2011 deadline predicting the Celtics would add Anthony Parker to solidify a roster that looked like the title favorite. Then Danny Ainge trade Kendrick Perkins for Jeff Green.

Damn it, why’d I bring that up? Paul and James are now going to fight to the death in the comment section.

Oh there is no fight over this. There’s just James clinging to his Danny Doll for dear life. I tried to give him a Rondo Bear, but he’s not ready yet…

Speaking of Rondo, he gave us a very nice half game tonight, didn’t he? I guess it was a good night for his patented flipper defense.

Jay, thanks for the shout-out but paul’s my buddy these days, as he’s slowly weaning himself off the KP trade references and his hate for DA is ebbing (see today’s earlier post by him) which must have something to do with the stars and the northern lights deluge of late. Is the universe out of whack??? Good win otherwise it would have been a lame and crappy loss considering Ellis was traded, Curry is injured, and Bogut and Jackson didn’t play. Don’t be surprised by Klay Thompson as that is why GS made the trade (well they needed a center which it’s been 30 yrs [Parish] since they had one that could post and score and rebound). Is there a reason, anything legitimate will suffice, for Doc not playing EM and JJ??? Our bench is decimated and they sit. Brilliant Doc. Let’s run our starters into the ground again right before the playoffs. MP needs to get some rebounds as I love his 3-pt shooting but he’s in my doghouse with 0 rebs tonight in 25 mins. At least GS and even PP rebounded tonight and so we won that stat and the game. Must be a coincidence, don’t you think? Maybe doc will see that in the box score? Speaking of weird things, how about Gerald Green scoring 26 tonight and the other night, too. Guy always had talent and it’s good to see him getting it together. Not much to rip tonight because PP gave effort finally on the boards. KG is playing great and if GS can get the minutes he is a force that can help us come the playoffs. Sure am glad Nate missed that 3 at the end. Go Cs…DA will keep the Big 3 but please get someone in to help …someone we can tolerate and that will produce…please!

“WE ARE ALL HERE TO DO WHAT WE ARE ALL HERE TO DO….”   The Oracle to Neo

Welcome to Oracle Arena, think (Reloaded) Matrix,
Hoping for Rondo to Bass alley-oop play tricks.
Aortic conditions for Wilcox and Green,
Next year in Cs uniforms they’ll both be seen.

Monta Ellis–gone,  on the Warriors bench is Curry,
Waiting for his ankle to heal, can’t be in a hurry.
Starting lineup includes our pal, Robinson–Nate,
Early turnovers this game, Cs energy not great.

Pierce’s three ball got caught between backboard and hoop,
Hope that’s not a sign of what we’ll see from this group.
Rondo’s behind-the-back passes, glorious sights to see,
One resulted in RAY ALLEN FOR THREE!

After a rocky start just trying to score,
Cs start Q2 only down by four.
Pietrus for three, Pietrus for three,
Love the energy of Avery Bradley.

Stiemsma’s elbow ran into David Lee,
He was ok. Pietrus for three, for three.
On tremendous energy the Warriors thrive,
At the half Warriors 60, Cs 55.

Warriors aided by Nate, Thompson and Wright,
Dominating rebounds, and in the paint tonight.
Warriors flying around, their shots they can sink,
Cs need to apply pressure and make them think.

Rondo’s been enjoying the behind-the-back pass,
After a slow start, hooray for Bass.
Credit to Stiemsma, he has great hands,
Energizing the Cs fans in the stands.

Q4 starts with the Cs up four,
“GoldiBlocks” is Stiemsma’s nickname, made me roar!
There are moments in Cs games that are the best,
Like KG on the ground, pounding his chest!

Energy and intensity for this Cs group,
    Rondo to KG–alley-oop!
Running the floor you’ll get Rondo’s pass,
    Great hustle, sensational–Brandon Bass!

They say he is old, nothing left in the tank,
Cs by 2 especially KG to thank.

Yeah, because trading away an injury-prone player who thinks he’s at least 10x better than what he really is and who deserves about .05% of the credit for their current teams’s success is definitely worth fighting over in terms of importance…good win, but since we don’t face Golden State in the playoffs, can’t say it matters at all honestly. Still don’t understand how a SHOOTING GUARD gets 0 rebounds, then ends up in someone’s doghouse…not a center, not a power forward, not guys that get paid to rebound, a SHOOTING GUARD. Yeah, okay.

If you don’t think rebounding is important, by all players and not by “position” as you tried to advocate the other day and again now then you are never going to understand how basketball works and games are won. Players are paid to play and are not paid by specialty. Name one coach with a title under his belt that ever told a player to not rebound because the “center or PF are going to do it”. So please stop reading my posts because you might end up educated and we wouldn’t want that to happen. Absolutely the dumbest comment I have ever heard. In essence, you are saying only 2-3 players need to rebound instead of the five on the court. F’in brilliant!!! No wonder the Cs are last in rebounding in the league. They’ve apparently been listening to you. Kobe’s an SG; does he rebound? Like the f’in 15 he got in Game 7? Remember that loss Greg? Yep, those meant nothing. Go Cs…

Good win, although they gave up another good lead. I hope DA pulls off one trade this year. Dwight Howard. That would be championship material for sure. Can’t we just get a loan from the bank or somethin??? Or maybe tell Dwight, that he’ll get his money next year? I wish.
