NBA trade deadline goes, Boston Celtics Core Four still intact

Danny Ainge did just what he should have at the trade deadline. He called opposing GMs, looked for steals that would help the Celtics in the future, and ultimately decided the Celtics are in a good place regardless.
I don’t know about you, but I’m hyped that the Big Three are returning at least for the rest of the season. Even if the Celtics aren’t contenders.
P.S. – If Jermaine O’Neal really does want a buyout, well, uh, okay.

Let’s see who we can get from the D-League or as a buy-out. This team, if healthy, will perform and can win it all I believe…if of course they rebound better. Go Cs…

Which I believe we can do if the effort is there, as you say. But it shouldn’t be hard, since statistically we have the most efficient offense in the game as of right now.

So let me get this straight:
Ainge actually held up on his word that Rondo won’t be traded.
He listened to offers, and probably even offered one or more of the big 3 for future franchise pieces. Because there is NO OTHER GM IN THE HISTORY OF GM’s THAT DO THAT. And it’s definitely not their job to make their team better.
He actually supported Rondo and has supported the team recently instead of ridicule them in the media.
He listened to Doc when Doc said he likes the team, and thinks they have a legit shot this year.
But apparently all that is moot, because all of that equals disloyalty and all Ainge wants is the spotlight and he doesn’t give a damn about our team. Good job at impersonating an enlightened person Paul, I’m sure it works with the girls.

JO can make a contribution if he is healthy…but he hasn’t been. With his injuries and and age why would anyone want him…aren’t we kind of stuck with him?

All Ainge has had to do is let it be known that the Big Four were not to be had. That would have reassured them, while raising their value to anyone absolutely determined to make an offer, and cutting out a lot of Ainge’s phone bullshit, right? BUT AT THE VERY LEAST HE CHOOSE TO HANG THEM OUT ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK CONTINUALLY.
And you all know this. But you choose to lie to defend Asshole Ainge. So you know what I think of you, Greg, Jay and James. You make me sick. You suck up to POWER like the little mind slaves you are.

I’m assuming you’re referring to when he said any of the big 3 were available? Okay.
Do you know why he said that? The reason why he thought that was the right approach?
You remember when the old 3 was dysfunctional towards the end? Someone on this blog wrote a post directly adressing the similarities between this three and the last one. At the beginning of the year, it seemed all hope and momentum was lost. The well-oiled Boston machine was losing its functionality. All Ainge was saying is that he was in the same position that the last GM was in during the old big 3. He said that he wouldn’t just let mediocrity set in for more than a decade (which is EXACTLY what happened) he said that GIVEN THE RIGHT OFFER, he’d be willing to start the rebuilding process early. Paul, THE BIG 3 THEMSELVES UNDERSTAND THAT. So why is it that you think Ainge was gonna give up the big 3 for a bag of basketballs? You saw the post regarding his high asking price for any one of the big 3. Dude you’re losing yourself in this whole loyalty thing. You’ve lost the argument. Get over Perkins and your man crush already! It’s getting sad.

I was actually going to say something today about how glad I was that the Asshole didn’t trade Rondo or any of the Core Four. But fuck that. I find that all of you have made the bizarre logical leap from the fact that Danny didn’t make a move to the assertion that he didn’t TRY to make a move, and then you buttress this with the blatantly false assertions made by a known liar, Danny, that he never tried to make any moves.
Well there is no more reason for me to exchange any further words with you three.

Before you go cry in a corner with your copy of The Matrix, I want you to copy-and-paste quotes from James, Jay, and myself stating that we we didn’t think Ainge was trying to make moves. We all knew that he was. Ironically, it was the media that hyped that whole thing up. You know what? YOU’RE the one who has bought into all the stuff the media has said. The media said Rondo couldn’t function with the big three. You ate that up. Just a couple weeks ago, you were saying “look at their faces, they really wished it could have worked with Rondo”
There is something not clicking upstairs Paul. Get it together.

Ever consider the possibility that DA did in fact speak with each of the Big 3 prior to the trade season and told each they were staying, but that there was going to be chatter and he would have to address it and it would likely come out in the media as ‘rumors’ or replies to such. Ever play poker or chess paul? It boggles my mind how you understand the inner workings of the Cs mgmt team so well that you can consistently call DA a liar. Go Cs…

Let’s hope Jermaine gets his buyout and the C’s get Kamam (Or is it caman?) If he and Steimsma can do just a fair job of blocking up the middle and grabbing some boards, this team has a real shot at a title. I truly believe that; but it would greatly help if bigger teams, i.e. Lakers and Bulls get knocked out so we don’t have to face them. Small or not, we have to get better at rebounding. The C’s can beat Miami for sure. The Bulls are tougher. It will take the Celtics wanting it more than any other team, playing smart, disciplined ball. But they’re been there before, and that matters a lot in the playoffs. I’m so happy just to see the core four having another playoff run.

Greg, did you actually quote James? That’s a much bigger surprise than any trade (or non-trade) today. Go Cs.

Hey, when you’re right, you’re right. And we absolutely CAN beat Miami. The main focus with them is forcing them to play our style of ball which is half-court basketball. They struggle mightily against that. They are so successful because they are very good at forcing the opposition to play their style of ball. Look at what we did to the Clippers. Made them play half-court, and watched them struggle. That’s what we have to do (along with rebound) and we’re right there. JJ needs some minutes!!!

While I love the non-activity by our beloved GM (What’s up Paul?) I didn’t see an addition of a big. Like James said, let’s look to the D-League or free agency to get one. The Blazers just released Oden. Is he coming back to basketball this year? And don’t forget about the D-League. As I remember, there’s a certain Asian PG balling hard in the big apple who once resided in the D-League (and his brother’s coach).

There’s this guy in the NBDL named Dan Gadzuric. Look him up. He’s a young 6-11 center who averages 10 points and 11 rebounds this season. Someone to consider? I know Ainge is thinking about adding someone from either free agency or NBDL

We can do better with who? We’d essentially have to sit on our hands and wait until someone cuts their 2nd or 3rd string center.

Gadzuric can do a little defence, block some shots en grab some boards. I would like him to become a Celtic. I’m Dutch, so it would be nice to see a Dutch guy in a Celtic uniform. Although Kaman is a much better option.
