Paul Pierce trade rumors: Danny Ainge offered Pierce to Portland Trail Blazers

When reporters spoke to the Boston Celtics before yesterday’s game against the Golden St. Warriors, Paul Pierce joked with them about still being in Boston as the trade deadline approached. Reporters thought he was kidding, and he probably was, but the comments might have had serious undertones.

According to ESPN’s Chris Broussard (Insider), the Celtics offered Paul Pierce to the Portland Trail Blazers.

While Boston Celtics boss Danny Ainge has said Rajon Rondo will not be traded, he is still actively seeking offers for members of the Big Three. The Celtics offered Paul Pierce to Portland — I’m not sure what they asked for in return — but the Blazers were not interested because of the two years and $32 million remaining on Pierce’s contract.

The Blazers are positioning themselves to have tons of cap room this summer and they don’t want to do anything to eliminate their space as they try to rebuild around LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. The Blazers continue to shop the rest of their roster, particularly Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, Marcus Camby and Jamal Crawford.

Be prepared for a wild ride until 3:00 p.m.

Broussard must be smoking some of that good Portland skunk weed, as this rumor is so illogical. If Portland won’t trade Batum then they have nothing worth PP including all the other players mentioned together. Can’t wait for this b.s. to all end today. Go Cs…

To get rid of Pierce is just flat out stupid. His game is still tight and he is the heart and soul of the Celtics. Big 3 are still putting up numbers so why trade? There’s always time for the future, after the Boston Big 4 era.
