Ray Allen still desired by several teams at NBA trade deadline

As Woj reports, the Celtics are listening to offers. And if they get one Danny Ainge feels comfortable signing off on, they’re going to take it. Nobody is safe from Ainge’s maneuvers, but the key is whether he finds a suitable trade. He knows that standing pat is good for the future too.
Here’s what Doc Rivers had to say about the Celtics’ objectives as the NBA trade deadline draws near: (via the Boston Herald)
Rivers knows that if another team did meet the Celtics’ request that it wouldn’t help his team much in the present.
“We would be getting future value,” Rivers said. “But obviously if there was a deal like that and it made sense, we’d do it. But teams are very high on the draft, and that’s been in play a lot. I think teams are very reluctant this year to make a move — even teams that think they’re one player away. They want to make a move, but they don’t want to give up that pick.”
And an opposing executive:
“Danny’s talking like he thinks some team that’s a player away has to want one of the Big Three, and he’s right,” one opposing executive said. “But the price might be too high. I guess he’s just hoping that a team will think it needs an Allen or a Garnett so bad that they’ll overspend.
“And if a team thinks that’s the guy who’s going to put them over the top, then you’ve got to think about that.”

Because sweating out the trade deadline like this makes me realize how much I despise that aspect of Ainge, and it hurts more because there is a side of Ainge that I like equally well. Look at the way he drafted Bradley and stuck with him, and now we have a superb backup pg. That side of Danny, the part of him that is a smart, careful team builder who trusts players, I love that part of Ainge.

So what you’re saying is that you hate the ambitious side of Ainge? Dude…that’s his job. He’s supposed to always look forward even if the team is doing well at the moment.

No Greg. Listen, darling, let me talk to you like the three year old child you apparently are. See, Greg, there are some bad people out there in the world who behave ruthlessly and disloyally, and who call that “ambition” and “boldness”. You can see such people in a movie such as Goodfellas, but in fact they exist, less dramatically, in all walks of life.
Then, Greg honey, there are many other people who like to build things carefully and thoughtfully. They are not afraid to make a bold move when it is really called for, but they generally try to do what is best for everyone, and they don’t usually chase the spotlight. Greg, hon, those are the truly ambitious people. They are bold enough to have a little faith, and not to sacrifice important principles like loyalty for their hunger for attention, and their thirst for the easy success.
Do you understand now, dear Greg?

Oh gosh, Paul you’ve gotten under my skin by trying to belittle me over the Internet…good one big guy.
But um, the last time I checked, Ainge isn’t grabbing headlines by saying ridiculous things on twitter or on espn like GM’s such as Jim Irsay. Trading away Perkins has you on a very severe period and I understand that. But sometimes, the guy that gives you wet dreams isn’t as good as you think.
So by the logic you’re spouting, it sounds like you are saying that bringing the Big 3 together would be disloyal to the Celtics that were here before 2007? I mean I know you’re old and possibly senile, but retardation? Really! Thanks for making me appreciate my youth that much more.
Finally, answer these questions for me: Did Ainge trade any of the big 4? Did Ainge ever say a negative word about Rondo or the big 4? Did he ever hint that he didn’t appreciate what they have brought to us in the current era?
If you’re not intelligent enough to answer, I understand.

I don’t belittle you, Greg. You belittle yourself. Simple as that. You and James choose to believe in lies so that you can be part of the group think. Of course the Big Three trades don’t compare to the Perkins trades and you know that. I specifically said that even a wise gardener knows that there are times for genuinely bold and well thought out moves. Such a gardener also knows better than to hoe up their garden continually.
Go on and be defensive Greg. You too James. I understand. It’s hard to wake up to the reality of having a mind, YOUR OWN MIND, that YOU can use to think things through. It can be scary to be an individual.

You’re right, you don’t belittle me. That sort of thing happens in person, not behind the safety of your keyboard. And I love how you think that just because you are in the OVERWHEMING MINORITY when it comes to Perkins’ worth, that doesn’t make you enlightened in ANY way. Actually, it makes you more laughable because as of now you’ve provided absolutely no concrete stats to back up your theories. It’s entertaining. You’re that guy that entertains people with logic that’s so dillusional, it’s funny to think about. You say that I buy into what the media says. Um, how many times have I said that we shouldn’t trade the big 3? How many times have I said that Rondo is the best pg in the game? More importantly, how many times has that been said in the media?
Please stop throwing smokescreens to shield your school-girl-like crush on Perkins. I’m more curious as to what makes you so defensive about him. Is it his scowl?

paul…I am not part of any ‘group’ think, as I am more than capable defending my beliefs, comments, opinions, etc. Try not to speak for me, think for me, or drag me into arguments you have with others. You can disagree with my positions all you want, but I am a free thinker and if you weren’t so riled up all the time (especially about a trade that happened over a year ago) then maybe you could understand that. Go Cs…excellent non-moves as we had no one to move. and no one wanted SP, KD, MD, or JO with an injury.

Funny how the Celtics acquire players who always are injured prone, or have some kind of health issues not known, or did the teams that traded them know? Either they are ready for retirement or washed up. I mean if Doc says his team is not an contender right out front I mean Bird would of told him to f off and brought them another championship. Ray allen is worth alot and rondo is to. Maybe they just want to play in Boston so play have assed and then no one wants you and then play to your full potential and win another championship.
