Jackie Mac thinks Ray Allen’s gone after this season

I’m not sure whether Jackie MacMullan has sources or whether this is just her opinion, but she believes Ray Allen is gone after this season. (ESPN Boston)

“I really do think Ray [Allen] will move on,” she said. “I think he’ll have some great opportunities to do so, I think he’s got some years left in him, and I think he’s a great sniper for a championship team — could be the Lakers, could be Miami, the Bulls I know would love to have him. So he’s going to have all sorts of options.”

Ray will definitely have options. His shooting ability could help any contender, and he’ll probably be able to put the ball through the hoop for years to come. He stays in perfect shape, so his performance isn’t likely to fall off a cliff any time soon.

I wouldn’t fault him for leaving. He came to Boston, he helped the Celtics win a title. If he wants to go somewhere else to hunt another one, I’ll wish him well.

And…why would he leave again? Sorry, I just missed some glaring, obvious, intelligent reason as to why he’d leave the place that he’s rejuvenated his career at. My bad.

Nice one, Greg. Yeah, you think he should be loyal to the team, even though the team has been looking to trade him year after year.

      Hypocrite.

Oh yeah they have been “looking to trade him”. Yet the haven’t, and they have extended him. Stop speaking about hypothetical situations. He was never traded and that all that matters. Ray Allen is a professional. He understands that there is a business side. However, its clear how much the Celtics value him as they haven’t traded. They wanted Hansborough and a 1st rounder for him. That’s a lot of value for a 36 year old sharpshooter. Ray Allen is going to retire in the green. [Loyalty]

Here is where Danny is likely to get exactly what he deserves. If you treat players like pieces of meat, expect them to move on if they get a nice opportunity, rather than sacrifice anything for the sake of the team.

And you ‘fans’ and media hacks who have supported Danny in his campaign to reduce players to the status of meat for sale are looking at your just deserts too. If you don’t want to be loyal to players, don’t expect them to have an ounce of loyalty to you.

We need Ray and KG to sign team friendly contracts and stay with us. What goes around comes around kids. You treat players like disposable units, and they’ll treat your team as disposable and rightly so.
