Mickael Pietrus update: ‘Optimism’ Pietrus will return this season
Mickael Pietrus had fallen to the floor and he had been taken off the court on a stretcher, and Celtics nation was collectively holding its breath while awaiting word on Pietrus’ status, when the Frenchman spoke on the phone with his agent’s assistant. First things first, Pietrus decided, and opened the conversation with one question:
What happened at the end of the 76ers game?
The answer certainly did nothing to improve Pietrus’ mood, but it appears the Celtics have dodged a bullet. Early signs indicate that Pietrus avoided serious head injury during his fall against the Philadelphia 76ers, and he still hopes to be able to return to the court this season. Pietrus’ agent said it looks like Pietrus suffered a concussion, and the small forward has been cleared to travel. (ESPN Boston)
Pietrus was not admitted to the hospital, but spent the night in the area. He will fly home Saturday afternoon to Boston, where he will be re-evaluated by the Celtics’ medical staff.
McCandless said he was informed the X-ray and CT scans administered Friday night revealed no abnormalities. Although Pietrus will undergo more tests and is still waiting for conclusive results from an MRI, there’s optimism that he will indeed return to the court this season.
Great news. For a little while there, I was beginning to think the Celtics are cursed.

i didnt want to say it,but i think the celts are cursed.
a lot of bad mojo has been going the c’s way ever since banner 17. while kneee injuries to KG and Perk come with playing the game of basketball, how the hell is it the celtics have two players with heart issues and two players go down on the court with serious head/neck issues? then throw in the shaq, J.O, sheed, pierce to start season, and dont forget rondos arm getting mangled in the playoffs… you were begining to think they were cursed? theres not doubt their cursed, lets start thinking of ways to reverse it and get on to letting our players live healthy lives.

Throw in AB, GS, JG, CW, RA, KD, MD while your at it. This team has got to be the most beat up team in the past 3 or 4 years. The ghost of Celtics past is back again, in a bad way.

I link the curse to Ed Lecert… He took over for Ray Melcorie (not sure of spelling) after the 86 finals … Look at everything that has happened since…Len Bias, the Celtics injuries in 87, Reggie Lewis, Marquis, Wilcox, Perk, KG, Rondos arm. Now this! Get rid of Lacert

And by the way, that whole shaq thing last season… Never happens if he still was on Phoenix.. Grant Hill won’t leave the suns because of the trainers. Maybe we need a new trainer.

I hope Pietrus doesn’t return fast. That looked like one wicked concussion. Take it slow, Mickael.
