Video: Rajon Rondo’s crazy, whirling assist
In case you care about these types of statistics that mean little yet explain a lot, Rajon Rondo has now reached double-figure assists in 11 straight contests, the most since Steve Nash accomplished the same feat in 2009. Earlier in the season Rondo displayed a level of inconsistency, which was troublesome because he has become such a crucial cog in Boston lineup. There were also certain nights when Rondo fancied himself a big-time scorer, but now those huge scoring nights and inconsistent play have left the building for a little while, and in their place steps the every-night, big-time assist man who keeps his teammates happy above all else.
If you want to understand why Rondo went through such measures to fake out the Utah Jazz (he looks like he almost dislocated his shoulder during the making of this movie), just watch Paul Millsap’s reaction, which looks even better from the second angle. Sorry, Paul. Gotta keep an eye on your man next time, even if Rondo’s at the free throw line doing magic tricks.
