Doc Rivers addressed reporters prior to today’s Heat-Celtics game, acknowledging that Ray Allen will miss the Heat game and Mickael Pietrus might be out for awhile.

Allen has not undergone additional testing for his sore ankle, and Rivers said the Celtics are surprised he hasn’t returned to the court yet.

“He went through shootaround and just didn’t feel like moving,” Rivers said.

The coach added, “You can see him moving around, he’s just not ready to play. We’re hoping — we have two days off after today, so hopefully by Wednesday he’ll be on the floor. He wants to play and we want him to play, but he’s just not ready to play.”

Mickael Pietrus made the trip to the TD Garden today to greet his teammates, but won’t be able to stay for the entire game due to the affects of his concussion.

“This is his first day venturing out into the light, literally,” Rivers said. “He’s going to come in, I think he’s going to say hi to the guys and then we’re going to try to get him back in the car and get him home. He’s not responding very well.”

According to Rivers, there are three stages of concussion severity and Pietrus’ was the most severe.

“We haven’t even started the tests [that the league requires for a player to be cleared after a concussion], so he’s going to be out awhile,” Rivers said.

Still, Rivers wasn’t ready to rule Pietrus out for the rest of the season.

“I’m not going to say that,” Rivers said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he played next week. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see him [again]. I just don’t know. I think, with that injury, I don’t think anyone really knows now. When I played it was easy. We just played the next day and Mike Fratello would yell at me for not playing well. Now, I call Mike all the time and tell him I have an excuse.”
