Paul Pierce named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

If my calculations are correct, Pierce averaged 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals this week, while being overlooked by fans in favor of heaping praise on Kevin Garnett and/or Rajon Rondo approximately 15,398,387 times. (Note: Don’t take that as an insult to KG or Rondo. Both deserve all the praise they’ve gotten, just like Pierce deserves a lot more praise than he’s gotten. I guess the fallback of being a consistent rock is that people aren’t surprised when you’re a consistent rock, except in KG’s case, in which people are surprised because KG’s supposedly too old to be such a consistent rock these days. That was a mouthful. I apologize. My point stands, if you can decipher it through all the gibberish.)
In case you want to read more about Pierce’s great week and find someone who gives The Truth his deserved credit, check out Paul Flannery’s column on that very subject.

Oh for God’s sake, Pierce gets plenty of credit. And he deserves it. But he’s not at all hurting for credit. He was fantastic against Lebron.

Pierce has won player of the week twice. Rondo hasn’t won it once. Who is getting all the praise and hype? My God, when do people ever give the Pierce hype a freaking rest?

PP is playing much better, but truthfully should have been earlier in the season. He coasts too much for me in the past and now that he’s flipped the switch, as evidenced by his significantly improved rebounding, he’s rewarded for POTW? As paul stated, how about RR? Hell, RR should get MVP considerations not just POTW or POTM. Go Cs…

It is called “player of the week” That is a narrow window…anything before the week is irrelevant unless you don’t understand the definition of a week.

I understand what ‘week’ means, but my point was why not RR? Hasn’t he had more spectacular weeks this season than PP? Frankly, he deserved it more than PP did. Go Cs…
