Mickael Pietrus improving, still not ready to take concussion tests

http://twitter.com/MickaelPietrus/status/187260790829617154

Mickael Pietrus watched most of Tuesday’s practice and told A. Sherrod Blakely he is “getting my energy back,” but left before the end of the sessionĀ because the sounds became too loud. Pietrus was not wearing his stunna shades inside, which is a good sign that he is gradually working his way back to normal.

Doc Rivers noted that Pietrus has clearly improved, but doesn’t know how much. Pietrus has yet to begin the NBA’s concussion tests, and Rivers said it will be at least a week after the testing begins before Pietrus is cleared to play. (NESN)

“He actually looked alert [Tuesday],” said Celtics coach Doc Rivers, who thought Pietrus’ condition was still worrisome Sunday when Pietrus visited prior to the game against the Heat. “He walked in and yelled, ‘I feel better!’ I don’t know what the hell that means.”

Pietrus may feel better, but he has yet to begin preliminary tests required as part of the NBA’s concussion policy. Once Pietrus begins the tests, Rivers said, it would be at least a week afterward until he would be cleared.

I’m glad they are being patient, and I hope to hell Doc stays away from stupid comments about how in the old days they’d shoot a vodka and call it a full recovery. No Doc. You don’t see a concussion like that every day. What you are talking about is more like the kind of bash to the head Rondo gets on a regular basis and shakes off, like the one he got from Carmelo to start the season, and the one he got from LeBash yesterday.
