Avery Bradley, Kevin Garnett make John Hollinger’s First Team All-Defense

In all honesty: I occasionally wake up at 4 a.m. with sweat dripping down my face after dreaming about trying to dribble the ball past halfcourt with Avery Bradley defending me.

If you know me, you know “in all honesty” can be loosely translated as “I’m about to make up some bullshit in order to tell a bad joke.” But still, scoring and dribbling and trying to complete normal basketball functions with Bradley hounding you simply cannot be easy or at all enjoyable.

He’s tough enough as a defender that John Hollinger named him to his First Team All-Defense despite Bradley being completely out of Boston’s rotation earlier this season.

My 2011-12 All-Defense team

First team:
Avery Bradley, Boston
First team:
Andre Iguodala, Philadelphia
First team:
LeBron James, Miami
First team:
Kevin Garnett, Boston
First team:
Tyson Chandler, New York
Second team:
Ricky Rubio, Minnesota
Second team:
Tony Allen, Memphis
Second team:
Luol Deng, Chicago
Second team:
Taj Gibson, Chicago
Second team:
Dwight Howard, Orlando
Third team:
Mike Conley, Memphis
Third team:
Ronnie Brewer, Chicago
Third team:
Grant Hill, Phoenix
Third team:
Josh Smith, Atlanta
Third team:
Serge Ibaka, Oklahoma City

Notably absent from the list: Rajon Rondo. Ahead of him are Ricky Rubio, who managed only 41 games before season-ending surgery, and Mike Conley, who’s surprisingly become quite good at basketball and perhaps even worthy of his contract.

I would speak more about Garnett’s impact on everything Boston does, but it’s obvious enough to smack observers in the face, so I assume you already know.

Hollinger is an idiot. Nothing new there. I mean, he’s right about Garnett and Avery being on the list, but leaving Rondo off? What a jerk.

Have to agree with you on this glaring omission. RR is consistently one of the top defensive guards and now all of a sudden he’s not on a team that’s now rated #1 in defense? Hollinger is an idiot as he also said the Cs would not make the playoffs. He’s not having a good couple of weeks. Go Cs…

← Rajon Rondo would never have interest in playing for Team USA again. Ever.
