Ray Allen out against Atlanta Hawks

Ray Allen is out for the Boston Celtics tonight against the Atlanta Hawks, due to a bothersome ankle that keeps flaring up.
“I don’t know what’s going on with it, but I do know he’s not going to play tonight. It just swells, I guess. I don’t know. I got a call a while ago, so it is what it is,” Rivers said.
When asked whether Allen’s ankle would eventually need surgery, Rivers added, ”Ray would probably tell you more than I can tell you. I haven’t heard that. I’m just more concerned that this is the second or third time it’s happened.”
Allen could potentially return during the Celtics back-to-back-to-back set this weekend, but Rivers couldn’t making any promises.
“I’m assuming he’ll play in Toronto, but I can’t guarantee that,” Rivers said.

Ray’s ankle has me worried. Maybe he should sit out the rest of the season so that he’s 100 percent (or as close as he can be) come playoff time. Let’s hope he doesn’t need surgery. That doesn’t sound good, considering his past ankle problems.
