Knicks 118, Celtics 110: Nightmares of Novak and Smith

I’m 20 minutes away from nightmares about Steve Novak and J.R. Smith, Ray “No Limitations” Allen didn’t play because his swelling returned and the Celtics’ bench was outscored 55-2. But at least watching Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce do super-scorer things was enjoyable, Avery Bradley hit five three-pointers himself (his shooting success is getting a little out of hand) and the Celtics wouldn’t entirely go away, although they didn’t seem completely committed on the defensive end tonight.

The magic number for the Atlantic Division is now one, and I hope never to see a Celtics opponent shoot like that again.

while it was a rare fairly officiated game the refs sent a clear message to bradley and pavlovic by giving them both back to back ghost fouls….you cant gard carmello like that.anyone else is fine but dont mess with the highlight reel.

Nice to see that you don’t care about the noncall when Chandler bodyslammed Rondo.

the refs screwing rondo is nothing new.but making it painfully pbvious that they have to let carmello score at will was pretty unique.

Steve Novak is the next Jason Kapono. He’ll be a hot topic for a few months, but he’ll fizzle out. Don’t expect this Celtics team to let anyone shoot that well again. Pierce was amazing as far as scoring goes, but overall we needed to crash the boards a little more. I think the magic number is 7 in terms of rebounds Pierce needs to get? The Knicks aren’t winning anything this year, and this is probably the biggest win of the year for them. Too bad it was because of shitty ass lucky shots in the beginning. Our defense didn’t help, by double-teaming Melo we gave them those shots. I’m the bigges Doc fan in the world, but even I can’t look past the fact that he didn’t address this earlier. But the way I see it, this loss isn’t as bad as you might think. What are the chances we’ll face the Knocks this year? None. They’ll lose to Miami or Chicago in the first round. So essentially the three teams to worry about are the Bulls, Heat, and Magic. We’re all probably doing something to stay sane right now after this one, but let’s not get too insane because we do have more games to rebound from this.

even if we had them in the playoffs the whole teams not gonna shoot 60% from 3 7 games in a row.

We’re 14-5 when PP gets at least 7 rebs or more. He went 40 mins without a reb tonight and ended up with 2. Great offensive game though but it’s a two-sided coin not just one. At least we should up for a half. Go Cs…

The Knicks didn’t beat us by much on a night when they played close to perfect, and we were reeling with injuries.

Too bad we showed that we had no class whatsoever when we watched our best player writhing on the ground and didn’t bother to call a time out or check on him, and fans can’t even bother to comment on it.

    Nice. Real nice, people.

I agree, but I think the Knicks and refs were guilty too and everyone should have stopped once he didn’t get up right away. Go Cs…

Doc’s strategy of constantly of dbl-teaming killed the Cs in the first half. Just play straight up man-to-man and we will be fine. The fact is Novak & Smith were wide-open and usually alone shooting those 3s. If at the beginning of the game doc had bothered to look at the scouting report and just said ‘don’t let Novak or smith shoot uncontested shots’ then we win going away, injuries and all. Nice comeback, but god-awful first half with no fire, passion, rebounding, hustle, or fight. Kind of think doc is responsible for this one as it took until the 2nd half for any adjustment. and why KD is a Celtic is beyond me. Check his stat line…pretty typical of his season. For every good game he has 5 worthless ones like tonight. Looking forward to EM playing more soon as he at least got 1 reb in his one-minute as opposed to KD getting 0 in his 16 mins. go Cs…you sucked tonight!

The Knicks played their best game of the season and they still only won by 8 points, despite the C’s giving up 40 pts in the second Q. I hope NYC enjoys their moment of glory. RAY’S INJURY is a far bigger concern and RONDO’S BACK after tonight’s fall. Let’s hope we are healthy going into the playoffs. And let’s hope we clinch the 4th seed soon so our starters can get some rest.

And Greg and James, you called it correctly on Doc’s defensive adjustments that came way too late tonight. If we do see NY again, it’s b/c they upset the Bulls or Heat, which isn’t impossible, depending on which Knicks team shows up for the playoffs; however, I wouldn’t hold my breath on seeing them again this year.

But if we do see them again, the C’s would beat them in a seven game series. If we are healthy and decide to rebound and play D.

So bottom-line, we all agree that if we showed that second-half effort the whole game and Pierce gets 7+ rebs, we’ll win 8-9 out of ten games? So this was just…an aboration from all the good ball we’ve (mostly) played since the AS break?

Doc would be pissed. Just one of those games…ain’t like the C’s weren’t competitive. They drew close down the stretch but I think NY’s hot start sealed the win. Would be nice to grab that Atlantic title. BOSTON BEAT ORLANDO…
