Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Mickael Pietrus will all miss tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic, according to Doc Rivers. I’m currently covering the game from the TD Garden for CLNS Radio, so go check out my injury story there.
The biggest takeaway is that Rondo and Pietrus’ injuries don’t seem to concern Rivers (though they could both miss Friday’s contest with the Atlanta Hawks), but Allen’s progression (or lack thereof) is starting to become troublesome. (CLNS Radio)
When asked whether Allen made any progress today, Rivers responded, “None at all. That’s becoming, obviously, troublesome for us. I don’t think he’ll play Friday, we’ve already pretty much determined that as well. After that, we have three or four days [of rest], so maybe by the Miami game we can get him back.”
Rivers said he hasn’t thought far enough ahead to be concerned about whether Allen will return by the playoff opener.
“No, but there’s just concern that the ankle is not responding, and, you know, we need him,” he said.
Scenes of Shaq from last season are starting to invade my brain, and I’m not talking about the first few months of the season when the Big Diesel looked like one of the NBA’s top offseason acquisitions.
