Hawks 83, Celtics 74: Celtics drop series opener

The Celtics lost, Josh Smith is a superhero and Rajon Rondo could be facing a suspension for Game 2. No, that was not exactly how Doc Rivers wanted Game 1 to unfold.

Fuck the Hawks and their bitch ass refs. Anyone with half a brain could see that Rondo tripped on the dudes foot and bounced on his back. Bitches. We should have went for the home court advantage because we had a losing record on the road this season. I still believe in my heart we can and will win this series. Especially the way we played in the 4th quarter. Our guys were out of sync and out of rhythm to start the game but game2 will be the true measuring stick.

The ‘crap’ Cs showed up as evidenced by PP’s lame game, camping and not moving off the 3 line all night and his 3 QTRs with ZERO rebs (4 total in the 3rd qtr). Way to show up Paul. This is the pathetic effort group that believes all it has to do is show up and they’ll win. We all knew they would get serious but you can’t have 3 guys run the other way and actually be on the other side of the mid-court line after KG’s jumper hits the back of the rim (2nd qtr) and have only AB under the boards. While the refs sucked, the Cs sucked much worse and should not be proud of this lack of effort on all fronts. Hey BB, 5 rebs…really??? At the half, GS had 4 rebs (2 off.) in 6 mins and our starters had 4 rebs in a combined 45 mins. GS gets 9 rebs and then plays only 5 mins in the 2nd half. Come-on Doc. Only 13 FTs for the Cs and the bench scores 4 pts total. Rusty yes, but this game should have been won but the brain freeze and lack of rebounding killed any chance of that. I support RR’s reaction but I’m afraid he’ll be sitting tuesday. Go Cs wake the f**K up!!!

P.S. Worst offensive rebounding team in the HISTORY of the league. Now there’s a stat to hang on Doc’s coaching genius. F’in pathetic. I knew it was bad but not that bad as referenced during the game. When they all stand around frozen when shots go up it’s no wonder they have achieved such a lame distinction. Congrats boys! Go Cs…

That was my first reaction too, but if you think about it the reason they dont hang around the boards for off rebounds is because they try to rush back to set defensively!

So we automatically give up all opportunity of second chance points to play defense? Ergo, our defense which is already good now limits (i.e. kills) our offense so we need to play extra hard on defense, as we do not score enough points? Brilliant strategy. Not!… Why limit ourselves? It makes absolutely no sense. There is no logical or proven advantage to doing this. One of the dumbest strategies ever used by this team. Go Cs… better get back!

Greg and James, agree with your comments. While the refs blew a couple key calls, the C’s put themselves in that position by showing up way too late in that game. If they don’t start rebounding, they are not going to win this series. What happened tonight? I hope they are rusty, but they came out as if it were a regular season game against a mediocre team. And with Rondo likely out next game, we may be screwed. If we go down 2-0, I don’t foresee us coming back. Not with out Ray especially. I’m not feeling good about this series. Hopefully they win Tuesday and get this turned around in a hurry.

I don’t know how many times today we saw three Celtics in position to grab a fucking rebound, only to see a Hawk come snatch it away like a kid at an Easter egg hunt. Wake the fuck up Celtics! It’s playoff time. God I’m pissed right now. And yeah, James, Pierce was horrible today, and I don’t care if they defended him well; he didn’t work to get good shots or rebound

ugly game… dont freak, while the thought of playing without rondo for a game maybe two ( he got two earlier this year for throwing the ball at a ref,now bumping one?) is scary the celtics can play with the hawks. they played terrible tonight, big bad celtics showed up and didnt make one three pointer. the struggles of avery are scary as while especially without ray but it is only one game we need to relax. Everyone is capable of playing better and will get back on track for the next game steeping it up with Rondo out. Celtics in 6 now instead of 5 no big deal.

Things are weirdly working out for the Celtics… Hmmm. I don’t think so. Told you Ladies and Gentlemen, this ain’t no cakewalk to the NBA finals. You want it so bad Boston? The REAL champions reach out and grab it.

Rondo wasn’t his usual self. I mean setting up post plays on consecutive possessions to start the game? C’mon. I’m afraid we’re gonna need PP to now be the facilitator/scorer/defensive stopper for Joe Johnson now with Rondo likely out for a while. We can still beat them with our shots falling and more effort on defense. Our defense let us down early and we struggled the whole game to recuperate. Dooling is gonna be running the point and god help us if he doesn’t show up.

I’d rather have AB running the point and MP or EM, who has proven he can handle it, as the shooting guard. KD is not a facilitator and would rather jack shots which is exactly what we don’t need. Go Cs…
