Celtics 87, Hawks 80: Paul Pierce, defense lead Celtics comeback
The Celtics were 12 minutes away from returning to Boston down 0-2. Instead they surrendered 14 points in the final quarter, Paul Pierce wrote another chapter in his memoir, perhaps titled “I didn’t expect Marquis Daniels to share the court with me during my next vintage fourth-quarter playoff performance, but oh well, Atlanta still can’t stop me,” and the series returns to Boston split at 1-1.
Rajon Rondo returns Friday at the TD Garden. Josh Smith, who left tonight’s game with a sprained knee, might not for the Hawks.

Let me thank the great Shaquile Oneal for giving Paul the best nickname in the history of the NBA…THE MOTHER EFFIN TRUTH. Paul Pierce is a beautiful man. Simply beautiful. I’ve never been one for man crushes, but….
And imagine the opportunity we have! Their best playmaker is out and ours returns with a vengeance! Sure, KG needs to be more consistent, Pietrus needs to get his game going, and I still will believe that Sean Williams needs to play! Did anyone else see how they were crashing the boards tonight late in the game? Imagine Sean Williams’ big body banging down there. If we win this series and face Chicago, we are really gonna need some front court depth. But anyway, I’m excited about (most) of this game.

Greg, yes, play the Big Man, I agree, and that will help with the rebounding issue that James is constantly talking about. The small lineup was effective down the stretch, however. But no matter what you guys say, I say no to Pietrus. Bench him.
