NBA GM says Anthony Davis could be better than Kevin Garnett

One NBA GM says that Anthony Davis might become better than Kevin Garnett, the 2004 NBA MVP, 2008 Defensive Player of the Year and 14-time NBA All-Star who is still wildly important to his team’s success in this, his 17th NBA season. (Sports Illustrated)
One of the West general managers said Davis “is probably going to be better than Blake Griffin,” and his GM colleague upped the ante by saying he expects him to be better than 14-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett.
“There’s not one doubt in my mind that he’s going to be way better than Blake Griffin,” the second GM said. “I don’t even think it’s going to be close. I think he might end up being a little better than KG.
“He may be the quiet, humble [player] who’s not as great as Tim Duncan, but [he'll be] that kind of a person, and maybe have the game to back it up. I don’t think he gets to that [Duncan] level, but he’s going to be pretty good.”
One of the West executives wasn’t ready for such ambitious comparisons.
“I have times when I wonder, ‘Is he Marcus Camby, a great defensive player who alters the game defensively’ ” but doesn’t have much offense? he said. “And then there are days when I say, ‘Oh, no, he has much more offense to his game. He has this, he has that.’ Plus, I think Anthony Davis is a pretty cool kid.”
I love Anthony Davis as a player. He’s an unselfish winner who blocks everything that comes his way and has the makings of a nice offensive game once he becomes a little more polished. He won pretty much every NCAA Player of the Year award as a freshman while leading the Kentucky Wildcats to the national title and projects to be an impact player right away, even though his game still has plenty of room for growth.
But let’s wait until he plays at least one NBA game before we say he’s going to be better than Kevin Garnett, one of the best three or four power forwards in NBA history and someone who can still dominate a game on both sides of the court after almost 50,000 minutes played.

So he’s going to be better than KG but he’s not going to get to Duncan’s level? In just looking at player comparisons and stats and not looking at championships, Duncan is a better player than KG? Or if he is a better player, then there is a whole level between the two in which Anthony Davis would fall? I think that’s absurd.

Maybe, as he has the talent, but does he have the drive and will he work for it and avoid serious injuries. I think KG is better than Duncan, and would have won the one-on-one match-up when in their prime and certainly now; who had better talent around him his whole career and ergo more titles. Go Cs…

When he attains: 20000 points, 10000 rebounds, 5000 assists, 1500 steals and 1500 blocks come and talk to me.
