Ray Allen’s practicing today, says he has a lot of basketball in him

There’s a 100 percent chance Ray Allen’s return would help the Celtics, even if he isn’t moving at his swiftest. Mickael Pietrus is Boston’s only substitute who can occasionally score, and he spent Game 2 mentally doing the Macarena on the rings of Saturn. The Celtics have hit just three triples in the playoffs. Allen hit 2.3 per game during the regular season.

Allen swears he has basketball left in him. This is by far the most optimistic he’s been since that “Ray Allen’s returning tonight with no limitations” fake-out a couple weeks ago. Against my better judgement, my hopes just rose from “there’s a zero percent chance Ray Allen returns in the 2012 NBA Playoffs” to “so you’re telling me there’s a chance?”

Hopefully, RA will return or he will not, get the surgery he needs and be back next year as our 6th man. If he is fit we are going to have a great run through June. MP is rusty and it shows. He will get better as the games progress. Count on it as he wants a ring and loves being a Celtic! Go Cs…

Ray wants to start, he won’t admit it, but that’s what he sees himself as. He’s not a coach, he’s not a “mentor” he’s not a “super sub”, he’s a starting quality shooting guard. He’ll never see himself as anything else.

And I’m sorry, but if you’re Ray Allen this off season, and you’re looking at the Chicago bulls, who will without a doubt offer him every dollar on their mid-level exception and have Rip Hamilton starting at 2 guard. He’s gotta be thinking he can start there, and win a title.

I agree. I’m not really stressing over Ray coming back as much as most fans because I think MP can be more productive once his shots start falling. His defense is better than RA because he is bigger and more athletic. Obviously not the same shooter, and doesn’t have a big basketball IQ, but steady intense James Posey-an defense and rebounding is what we need from MP and I agree with James in that he will knock off the rust as the games increase. Everybody on this team wants 18 and no one is being given a pass to not work 110%. Not with this group of guys.
