Celtics 101, Hawks 79: Celtics steamroll Hawks, take 3-1 series lead

The stakes were significantly smaller but, at least until the second-half letup, that felt a lot like Game 6 of the 2008 NBA Finals. I half expected Leon Powe to come off the bench for a series of vicious dunks, Kevin Garnett to scream “Anyttthiinnngggg iisss poooosssibbbllleee” and Brian Scalabrine to crash the post-game press conference with a memorable display of awesomeness.

More to come later, as I’m currently sitting in the press section at the TD Garden and trying my best not to dance to Gino’s music.

It’s actually hard to believe we were outrebounded in this game. Paul Pierce is again, a very beautiful man. The way he responded to going down with some gutsy play-making almost makes you think he was flopping. Ray Allen looked like his old self even though he’s battling injuries. I’m more impressed with our bench and how they bonded together when Pierce momentarily went down. MD is proving to be the next James Posey for us. He’s knowledgeable of our offensive schemes and is pesky on defense with his hands. If Pietrus keeps being a non-factor on offense and camping at the 3 point line without moving, then Daniels deserves his spot. Pietrus has better defense yes, but his shot has been absolutely awol so far this postseason. I’ll still give him a pass seeing as it’s the first round, but still. And RR is now 3 games away from having the all-time record for 10+ assists. He’s motivated by that because every time he gets that 10th assist, he gets a little more pep in his step. I still think Sean Williams should get the nod over Ryan Hollins though.

I get your point about MP camping at the the 3. Earlier on this season, him and KG had a superb give and go where KG got a pass up top at the elbow of the key and just when you thought he would shoot it(cause you know that’s his bread and butter), MP cut to the hoop for a thundering two handed jam. The only reas I can think of why we don’t see more of this is because of MP’s previous injuries coupled with his latest episode, maybe he doesn’t have the confidence? Let’s go Celtics… 18.

I think he’s timid because he apparently has a hamstring injury.that coupled with the concussion has limited him I think but I think he’ll get it together.

I agree but as he gets stronger he needs to move and cut as he is extremely dangerous when he does so. It also helps the offensive flow and will help his 3-shooting. Go Cs…

They won’t let me get credentials for Celtics Town, but they allow me to go for CLNS Radio. Not sure why no respect/love for C-Town, but it’s pretty awesome to attend the games.

Next round is looking more and more like the Sixers. Win one more game and rest up. If NYK win one more game, MIA could be caught in a dogfight. What would be worse than losing the finals last year? Losing in a 7 game series to NYK after being up 3-0.

Great all-around effort. This is what we’ve all been waiting for, a return to how we played back in March and early April before the injuries. When this team fires on all cylinders, which happens due to their defense, then it is easy to see them in the Finals with a legitimate shot at Banner #18. Go Cs…
