Kevin Garnett says he would die for the Celtics if he had to

Listen to the interview at WEEI

Kevin Garnett’s comments from the interview above, presented with no commentary:

“Man, I would die out here if I had to, real talk. I’ve been doing this for a long time. … When I train in the summer, I train for lack of rest. My intervals are back in 30 seconds, I program my body to recover as quickly as it can. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don’t. I’m a cerebral player these days. I know how to buy myself time on pick-and-rolls and stuff like that, things that you don’t see when you’re in your seat. And it helps me, man.”

Also from Garnett yesterday, and also awesome:

“I have no life at this point. I go home, get treatment, come back in here, study tape, film. No life at all. This is what it is.”

And:

“When we win I’m having a lot of fun. When we lose it’s a tough day.”

Somewhere, Josh Beckett just demolished 20 buffalo wings and a 12-pack of Busch Lights, then called for a tee time.

That is why I’m extremely happy that the Celtics traded for Garnett. His take no prisoners defense and comments like that is y his influence on the team has gotten them this far.

Love the man, and what he brought to the team in terms of unselfish play. Something that the whole team exhibits on a game-by-game basis, right down to the rookies. Hope KG signs and stays for whatever may remain of his career … which is far from over. lol GO CELTICS!!!

Now how many people do you know would say this on 29 other teams??? This is probably the main reason why I came to love the Celtics. Like the BIG commercial spot said…what you call age, they call HEART.

I hope when K.G. goes into the Hall of Fame he goes as a Celtic and not a Timberwolf.

So Chris Bosh has a lower Abdominal strain. Kurt Rambis said that this kind of injury can keep a player out for a while. If Chris Bosh misses his date with us (assuming we both get there) that could be HUGE.

Hey everyone: James, Greg, Paul, Billy Bad Ass, the usual players in here: This is a wild ride and the C’s are making it much harder on themselves they often have to, but I’m feeling it right now. This team has a legitimate shot at a title. We can definitely beat Philly with some focus, and I know we can beat Miami. In fact, I think we might match up better with them than some bigger teams, ie Lakers or even Indiana. I hope the Spurs go to the Finals so we can can two older teams duke it out for the title. Go C’s! Rock and roll

I believe we can win it all, but I want to do it with Bosh and everyone available on all the teams we may face. And I want the Lakers for the rubber match which I believe we can win despite their rebounding advantage in height. Height doesn’t guarantee rebounds, effort does. Go Cs…

I love that KG is a Celtic and will have his jersey in the rafters someday. His heart is exactly in sync with the great Celtics of the past. I am old enough and lucky to have watched the Cs since 1960 and KG would fit in great with all our best teams. Maybe there’s a league in heaven and KG will get to play with Russell with both in their prime. Wouldn’t that be great to see? Destroying the Lakers, of course! Celtics for life!!! Go Cs…

Remember how 2008 was won? On the back of the Celtics D with KG leading the way garnering the Defensive Player of the year award.Diving for all those loose balls. ENERGY. If we are to win again we need to ride of the back of KG’s energy to lead us there. We have a team that can hit from all angles. If they can kick it into gear on offense we are going to be hard to beat. It was cool to see the reaction of DA the other night. That man looked like he had been to hell and back and then someone was like ”WE WON”.
