Avery Bradley sits out Celtics practice, Doc Rivers worried he won’t be able to finish postseason

Avery Bradley is not practicing today because of the shoulder. Doc said a lot of guys wouldn't be playing with it.

Doc Rivers and Paul Pierce seem quite impressed with Bradley’s heart, though Rivers is concerned Bradley won’t be able to stay on the court for the remainder of the postseason. (WEEI and Boston Herald)

“It came out and went right back, which is crazy. It’s a tough thing what he’s going through. A lot of players would not be playing, I’ll say that,” Doc Rivers said. “He’s dealing with stuff. It’s just tough. It really is. I swear a lot of people would not be playing and the only reason he is, is because he wants to. I am concerned at some point that he may not be able to anymore. We don’t know what game that is, we don’t know what day he can finish it and we can keep going all the way and he can play and tomorrow could be his last game.” …

“It just says who he is,” said Celtics forward and captain Paul Pierce. “A guy who wants to be out there. A guy that wants to win and do anything he can to help this ball club. What more can I say? A lot of young players would probably sit down and worry about their futures or careers or contract situations, but at the end of the day Avery has to do what’s best for him and his family and possibly for the long run. Hopefully, he doesn’t have any longterm injuries due to the fact that he’s playing. I think it’s a fine line.”

Oh well you blame Doc for his team getting that banged up. He constantly relies on the same players instead of using young legs. Hey he could always use EM, if he isn’t wrapped in cotton wool. Let’s go Celtics. 2 more to go. Play hard, D-up and run the floor. How good will it feel moving to the next round. Don’t be a casualty. 18.

Well, he did say Moore would win us a playoff game sometime…

If Avery can’t go, that might just be Game 5.

This is a huge blow to the Cs. They need his D and energy. Who’s going to start now? Ray? And who’s going to get his minutes? Please don’t tell me Dooling or MP. We are fucked

Doc likely won’t use Moore. He prefers watching Dooling and MP throwing up bricks from the 3 point line

They said he will start… I haven’t slept in 2 nights. I’m so scared of this Sixer team… We had game 4 in our hands. Now I’m a mess. After this season I can longer follow basketball anymore. I don’t have the heart for it anymore. I get to into it. I haven’t left the house since the loss on Friday and haven’t talked to anyone. I’m too into the team that it’s not fun anymore

Seriously dude, I hope you’re exaggerating.

If you’re note, I urge you to go see a professional, I’m not kidding.

If at any point he’s unable to play and is inactive…then play Sasha Pavlovic. He isn’t as good a defender or as fast, but hes stronger, bigger, and can guard the likes of Dwayne Wade probably just as well as Bradley and probably even better on the low block. He can also hit 3′s from time to time as well. And this could give way for Sean Williams to play as well! Of course, I’m not rooting for Bradley to be out of the lineup. But we can most certainly move on if this happens.

Frank, I hear you, but Greg is right: it’s going to be an ugly series, but so far in these playoffs, the C’s have responded after every bad game. Knock on wood, but we have yet to lose two in a row. Greg, I like Sasha as well, but he’s on Doc’s shit list. Dooling is his pal so he gets minutes.

Frank, I may not even watch the game tomorrow. I may just wait to hear the outcome and watch the replay on TNT or NBA channel late at night. My nerves can’t take much more either. I’m way too engrossed in this team; it’s not healthy.

That’s what makes C’s fans the best in the NBA.And that’s also why I made that “Oh well” statement in the other post. I can’t remember a more bipolar performance from this team in the playoffs. It was an emotional roller coaster.

Not watch the game??? Come-on Chris suck it up. If AB can give his all to the Cs being injured then certainly you can watch the f’in game. It’s going to be fine, fun and great. Even if they were somehow to lose this series, which I sincerely doubt, life goes on. I love the Celtics as much as any other fan, but I live to watch these games because the unknown exists…will we or won’t we get to play for Banner #18? And watching the beauty of KG, RR, PP and RA and now AB try and win after so many setbacks and injuries this season is MUST SEE TV! Go Cs….

See why the f–k did Doc go with AB when he knew he had a lingering injury? Does anyone think he should take some responsibility for AB’s situation?

No, I don’t. If a guy can play, he plays. You have to let the players dictate what they can and cannot do, only they know how much pain their in. Until it gets to the point that they’re hurting the team because they’re unable to be effective, you have to keep going to them and trust them to tell you if it’s too much.

I hear ya. I just think he should give those who have recent injuries a rest and use some of the blood of your bench. LET’S GO CELTICS. THERE’S NO ROOM FOR SOFT.18.

I think it’s great that we keep extending series so that Bradley can’t get any rest.

Rest won’t help AB one bit. He needs rotator cuff surgery + physical therapy. Takes about 3 months and having it done on both shoulders is gonna suck. The only thing that’s going to help AB is if the C’s bow out of the playoffs soon. Sucks but true.

James, I will try NOT to watch the game, but I know I will. It’s really not good for my blood pressure, but you are right. And if they win, it’s never the same watching the replay. Gotta watch it live. Go C’s. Pierce and Ray are due for big games. KG isn’t having two bad games in a row. The warrior will return for game 5.

My arms have been dislocating on and off since I was about 16. Coincidentally the first time it happened I was playing on my high school basketball team. I was guarding someone, they drove past me and took my arm with them as I tried to stay connected. Hurt like BLEEEP and I had no idea what was happening to me at the time. Honestly, only kidney stone pain can compare in my experience. A dislocated rotator cuff is terrifying, bone against bone struggle to pop it back in.

16 years and one surgery later both arms have a tendency to either slip out of the socket or feel like they’re about to at the slightest, weirdest movements. There’s really no rhyme or reason to it.

I’m telling you, for the first few hours after you dislocate your arm you don’t want to even reach for a glass of water. You’re so afraid its gonna pop out of the socket again.

I saw AB’s arms go up the other night and then when he winced in pain I knew exactly what had happened. To stay on the court and play like there’s nothing wrong is really astounding. Rondo and AB are tough mothers.

Brad in LA. YOu definitely give insight to the pain and fear of this injury; yet you are making me doubt that AB will remain throughout the postseason, which will hopefully extend past Philly. Who will get his minutes? I truly can’t take any more of MP and KD.
