Celtics 101, Sixers 85: Boston seizes 3-2 series lead with electric second half

That was simply Basstacular, no?

With 7:41 remaining in the third quarter, Kevin Garnett was called for a questionable offensive foul while trying to finish over Spencer Hawes. The crowd, showing vital signs which had not been present the entire night, erupted in chants of “bullshit.” Boston responded with a great defensive possession, Philadelphia was called for a three-second violation, Kevin Garnett drilled a jumper, Boston won the game of hide-and-seek with its defense, Brandon Bass spectacularly rose from the ashes, Rondo dominated the fourth quarter, and the Philadelphia 76ers will now host an elimination game Wednesday night. When the fourth-quarter bell mercilessly ended this fight, the weary Sixers had been outscored 48-28 since Garnett’s foul.

Plenty more to come later on Boston’s series-momentum-altering victory, but for now I’m at the TD Garden pretending to be a member of the media.

I love this team. I really really do. And I love Brandon Bass as well. He solved our 3rd quarter issue particularly well. Once he amps up his defense like he did tonight 24/7, the Big Baby trade will officially be a steal.
Jay since you were there, what were the fans chanting towards the end of the game? It sounded like “let’s go He-et”

I love Bass, but do we ALWAYS have to be jerks about Big Baby? Davis did a fantastic job replacing Dwight Howard, in case you didn’t freaking notice.

And how did that work out for them? Meanwhile, Bass has done a better job at replacing Big Baby, on and off the court.

          bass > baby

who cares what he did, or what he is doing now. thats the fact of the matter. ok to be a fan of a mediocre player but dont get all bent outta shape when people truthfully tell it how it is.

I love how everyone had a burst of euphoria when LeBron had his double double. The dude gets 9 assists and Skip Bayless calls him the best passer in the league. Rondo gets what…14? You’ll probably hear about it MAYBE twice tomorrow. Twice. And I saw Sean Williams in warmups today…a possible siting could be in his future? Maybe not if we keep having BombBasstic nights from our starting PF.

That ‘offensive’ foul might have sparked the team but the sixer’s meltdown started with that clear path foul on Paul Pierce. Hopefully they can finish out on Wednesday and the heat/pacers can go to 7 games…

Bass and GS saved the Cs tonight and sparked their win. Can you imagine how good this team would be if AB was healthy, GS was healthy (he may be getting there), RA was healthy (he looks like he is hurting still, PP was healthy (another weak game shooting but he drove spectacularly and was 9-9 in FTs but his 4 rebs were not enough) and if EM played instead of KD??? We can’t keep giving up 14 offensive rebs as it led to 8 more shots by Philly. good thing Bass got aggressive with his drives and his excellent shooting. GS’ blks were huge too. Go Cs…end it Wednesday and let’s hope AB gets back for the next round vs the Heat.

The C’s stepped up tonight when they had to. Kudos to everyone for a great team effort in the second half. Defense is our backbone and we brought it in second half. Paul: Big Baby gave us some good years, but Bass is here now and he played a GREAT game, thanks in part to Rondo feeding him time and time again. Doc is eventually going to have to play Moore and Williams. Ray is hurt and we don’t know about Bradley. Let’s hope the C’s can close it out Weds.

close em out wednesday , dont play around. with the guys banged up an extra day of rest or two would be just what this squad needs to gear up for the Heat. ‘

Bass was the man tonight, loved it, actually been waiting for this all playoffs like Doc said nothing changed in his game tonight, except he made some shots. (and got to the line 9 times)

time to move on … who is going to step up next game? will be someone outside the big guys (pp , rondo, kg) or will the stars shine and close out this pesky well coached young sixers squad?
