Celtics 101, Heat 91: The Celtics don’t do fading quietly

Just a championship response from the Boston Celtics tonight. No better way to describe it, though I didn’t like how the Heat weaseled their way back in the fourth quarter.

I can’t underestimate the impacts of Keyon Dooling and Marquis Daniels.

Plenty more to come later, but for now I’m at the TD Garden posing as a reporter for the Springfield Republican newspaper (if you want to read my column posted immediately after Game 3, here it is).

celtics 26 fta to miamis 20.i figured the nba would do this one fair to blame it on the “home court advantage”.c’s adjusted as well but if the heat shot 47 ft’s like last game we would have lost.

Well Glenn, this is why you should play your bench. Great win C’s. 1 more and it’s anyone’s game. Yours if you keep up the intensity, push the ball strong, keep up the great defense and lord ALMIGHTY (BIG UP RSO)…PLAY THE BENCH.

No one remembers my “….thinking about next year….” post right? Kaycool. And Marquis Daniels won this game for us. If Daniels and Bass can both play at that level we should win this series. I absolutely believe that. Pavlovic needs burn too!!!

Ray is hurt and cannot produce 100%. Doc should accept that and let somone else play who will be more productive. Ray Allen is only taking up minutes.

When you up 24 pts that’s not the time to go into the ‘prevent’ defense and burn the clock while standing around waiting until the last 6 seconds to initiate the offense. Cs need to learn to put their foot down and keep applying pressure until the 4th QTR is over. We actually were 2 missed 3s that could have gone in away from blowing this game. Great use of the bench but Doc should have been doing this since game 1. MD played awesome and let’s hope he gets the same minutes going forward. KD played the best he has all season and still made some glaring lame mistakes. We need PP to get it together. He had ZERO rebs in the first half and only 4 in the game. His lazy passes when dbled are so lame and always seem to lead to TOs. At least his offense was there even though he only shot 7-21. His driving was great. And then there’s KG who once again played awesome. An expected win so now to even the series on Sunday. Go Cs…RR’s passes and game are killing the Heat!

I agree man, you said it best…saves me typing that long. The C’s starting five plus Quis and MP should be non stop attacking the basket. Create those second chance opportunities.

Agreed – that ‘prevent defense’ provoked the Heat’s run. It didn’t just happen. You can go into a kill clock mode with a twenty point lead with five minutes to go. Not with ten. Not against Miami. Really, not against any team.

Agree with everyone, including James, but James, we also missed some wide open 3s (Ray Allen) in Q4 that could’ve put it away. It’s a make/miss league, as Doc says, and we made more shots. Doc only played MD tonight b/c the starters were in foul trouble. Let’s hope he has more faith in his bench now. The starters can’t sustain high minutes if we’re going to endure a six or seven game series to win. James, I’m just as pissed about them taking their foot off the gas, no longer pushing the offense, the Pierce TO that gave away a fast break bucket, etc. BUT WE WON!! And two games now, we’ve had sizeable leads. We can beat these guys, but Doc has to keep fresh bodies on the court that can stay focused and energized for 48 mins, making every possession count in the entire game. It’s a big task. Can we do it? GO C’S! Whoever wants it more wins this series.

I have no problem with blowing big leads on the condition that they win the game by 8 or so points. Anything closer than that is not a convicing win IMO. How good does it feel to get that win? Celtics gotta hit back again in Game 4 for a chance in this series.

Something Doc should consider for next game: We obviously have a size advantage with Garnett posting up in the middle; however, the Heat will key on that next game. Hence, we should pass down low to Garnett, then use big-men cutters like Hollins or Steimsma for Garnett to lob to. We could dominate the paint in this series for easy baskets. Even Williams should get some minutes. Daniels is a great cutter as well. Garnett isn’t the greatest passer, but he’s good enough to draw a double and feed to others for easy buckets. And if they don’t want to double, let him score all day long on Turiaf or whoever. We have to take advantage of mismatches and put them in foul trouble by attacking the rim.

Paul, RR, Allen and other should be cutters.

Maybe use GS more but it’s obvious his feet are bothering him and therefore his mobility. Hollins can’t finish – he either puts the ball on the floor and loses it or is blocked because he doesn’t fight to jam it. He’s had plenty of rim opportunities and hasn’t converted 99% of them. Williams will not get minutes. But you’re right, we need to keep pounding it inside and use KG’s advantage to score in the paint. Go Cs…

I love my team because they possess a sense of class and loyalty that is absent in all of the rest of the NBA. Any move for the big 4 would be a step down. After you play for the celtics there is no better. This is as high as you go. Bet it up. Retire as a celtic. On top.i love t then all.
