Sam Cassell is trying to get Kevin Garnett to stop thinking about retirement

While writing a story about Doc Rivers, Jackie MacMullan broke news on several other fronts. Go read her story for quotes about Doc, such as: ”They say Doc is a players’ coach, and he is,” Bass said with a grin. “A players’ coach who will kick your ass.” But keep reading this post for some of the news.

  • Ray Allen probably isn’t returning. MacMullan reports he was pissed to be taken out of the starting lineup and maybe even more so by almost being traded midseason: “If you really think Ray Allen is returning, then you haven’t been paying attention,” she wrote.
  • Kevin Garnett talked to Sam Cassell about retirement 10 days ago (they’re former teammates in Minnesota, remember) , but Cassell is trying to convince him to keep playing. Assuming Garnett doesn’t retire, Sam I Am is convinced he won’t play for anyone but Doc: ”KG is a loyal guy,” Cassell said. “I can’t see him playing for anyone else except Doc at this point.
  • Even during his rookie season, which was incredibly unproductive, Avery Bradley impressed the hell out of his teammates: ”He was knocking down shots, dunking on people, and we were like, ‘We’ve got a player here,’” said Pierce. “He was the only guy who could stay in front of Rondo. But then he got into the games and you didn’t see any of those things.” We do now.

Seriously, and no disrespect to Jackie M, but where exactly is RA going to start with a legitimate title contender? His defense, even with good ankles, has fallen off but he would be a killer 6th man as he would be going against 2nd units mostly and that’s a good thing considering his age, skills and love for playing with this team. The grass isn’t always greener elsewhere so I hope DA gives RA a 2-yr deal and I think RA would buy into that role. Go Cs…

Danny is paying right now for being such a total asshole. What he has to do is make things right with those guys, and I’m pretty sure they will come back. I don’t know how he does it, but if he wants them back badly enough, he’ll find a way. It could start with “I’m sorry I was such a dick”

Yeah, I know you guys think it’s great that we have a cutthroat total asshole for a gm. You all love that Koolaide, doncha now? Luv that ole group think, that mind slavery. mmmmmm – ggggooooood! Don’t have to think for myself. Mmmmm.

You could start with those words, “I’m sorry I was such a dick” and then maybe we can get back to civil posts and not calling each other out and definitely not putting words into our mouths as you tend to do when you’re agitated. The fact that DA went to Malibu 5 yrs ago to convince KG what being a Celtic could do for him, and vice versa, tells me all I need to know about DA’s motives. DA is far from being an a-hole GM. he does his job to the best of his ability and so far we have a title, had 3 other chances to get titles and still may fight for the next two titles if he gets everyone back. Yes, I love that “koolaide”. You should have a glass and chill paul. Go Cs…

Ainge is conceited, anyone who has met him knows so. Conceited people only see things their way. He should go and Kevin stay. KG is the Russell of today and Rondo is Hondo. Keep them together.

So who do you think should be the Celtics GM? Ainge got us KG, built a team that won a title, lost a title on KP’s injury and Laker refs, had another title shot until KG was injured, had another title run decimated last year with Shaq’s, Jo’s and RR’s injuries, and had us within 3 mins of this year’s Finals with AB out, CW out, JO out, and Green out all year and PP injured and RA needing ankle surgery today. Based on those facts I don’t think DA’s being “conceited” matters. So who would be better? Go Cs…

Yep, 20/10 in playoffs is “nearly washed up”. You’re an idiot and obviously not a Celtic fan or understanding of how hoops actually work. Go Cs…
