Boston Celtics reportedly pursuing Jamal Crawford in trade

payday loans

The Boston Celtics are one of the teams rumored to be “intensely” pursuing a trade for Jamal Craword. (CSNNW)

The Portland Trail Blazers are fielding trade offers for guard Jamal Crawford and the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Boston Celtics are among the teams actively pursuing the scoring specialist intensely, a league source tells CSNNW.com.

I would keep my eye on is Boston. They owns picks No. 21 and 22 in Thursday’s draft and have a ton of cap space allowing them to be in play however things shape up with Crawford.

Do you know who has two thumbs, is 32 years old, will make a significant amount of money next season and shot 38.4 percent from the field in 2011-12?

Jamal Crawford. Crawford can score, but I wouldn’t be thrilled if the Celtics acquired him, especially if they need to surrender assets to do so.

He had a down year. But he was 6-man of the year just a couple years ago. He’s a guy who embraces that “microwave” bench roll, where he just comes in and looks like score in punches.

This team needs more of that, a guy who when defenses take away your motions, when we can’t find an easy shot; just goes and makes something happen. This is something Crawford has made a career out of, and last years downturn notwithstanding, has been really, really good at.

    I’m all for it.

By James’ definition of a 6th man, he’d be perfect. But is he a 2 guard or a 3? Can he play Celtic defense? Will he give up under Doc like he did with Nate McMillan (Portland coach) and if we get him? What happens to Pietrus and Jeff Green if we get him back? I’m excited if we get him but there will be questions along with the answers.

If RA does not come back then I am all for this move, as long as we do not give up too much. JC is instant offense, but his 3-shooting needs to get back to where it was and he’ll need to play defense better. He hasn’t been on a team of this caliber so it’s likely his game will improve since he’ll have a great opportunity for a ring.

Go Cs…don’t give both draft picks, as we need another young PF-C type rebounder.

If he comes here he can have a Brandon Bass kind of year. He had a career year last year. Crawford can channel his athleticism into our defensive rotations and be a very effective player. But if we do trade a pick for him, we would be stuck with the others and won’t have a chance to move up for a John Henson caliber player. We would have to settle on a Fab Melo or a Royce White caliber player. Which honestly isn’t all that bad given we still have Steimsma, Sean Williams, JJJ, and possibly KG.

Truthfully, I’d prefer we package our picks and move up. I’d use EM as the 6th man and groom him for that role. He has the shooting skills I believe and could be another great defender. He always produced when in the game and can shoot the 3. He shot .378 with no continuity of minutes and that was better than JC. Go Cs…in-house baby!!!

People forget Jamal crawford creates his own shot which is something the celtics lack and is an offensive punch content to come from the bench if Doc can deal with tantrums of three hall of famer’s and a point guard who at times go through the motions and turn them in to the caliber of a team they are today i think he can impact and keep crawford in check. Their is more pros than cons with this guy, if the celtics want to contend beefing the bench is a must this an awesome start. I say keep an eye on the Hornets if they let Lewis go hed be a good backup for pierce. Bring Green back, bring KG back and try to get a good center. If you can sign and trade bass and a pick for josh smith as the rumor goes than go for it,if not bass is still goood.

Problem with packaging the picks to move up the draft wont get you high enough to grab a top10 pick
