Boston Celtics draft relatively quiet, risky, and maybe productive
I covered the NBA Draft last night for CLNS Radio, so I wrote a piece for their website on Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. A short excerpt follows, but feel free to read the entire piece if you love me or have an insatiable desire for mediocre Celtics writing.
Thursday night might have been one of the rare cases when need and value were one and the same. Sullinger, should he stay healthy, projects as a productive inside-outside threat from Day 1. Melo, if he can lasso his impressive talent and make it dance, or better yet, make it inflict bruises, could become a rare interior presence selected late in the first round.
Together they could be Boston’s frontcourt of the future. Or perhaps Sullinger’s back will prove to be a major problem and Melo will never scratch the surface of his vast potential. It’s the NBA Draft, people. The only sure thing about Thursday night is that years will need to pass before we can properly evaluate everything that occurred.
In case you enjoy punishment and want to read the whole thing, another link!
