Kevin Garnett not retiring, reportedly signs a three-year deal

Celtics to re-sign forward Kevin Garnett to a three-year, $34 million deal, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.

Please excuse me while I tap-dance naked through the streets with a victory cigar in my mouth and a cold beer in each of my hands.

Kevin Garnett is returning and the Celtics are likely to take another shot at a title run.

Three years at more than $11 million per for someone who will turn 39 years old before the contract expires sounds like a lot, until you remember how majestic Garnett was after the All-Star break and realize that he could very well retire before the end of his new contract anyway.

More to come later when I get off work.

Theres been a flurry of info on CT lately. Slowly i’m starting to forget the disappointing end to the year. KG back at the Celtics. Hell muthaf–kin yeah. That’s what you call loyalty.

AWESOME!!! Even better as I expected only a 2-yr deal. His commitment is to Banners #18, #19 and #20…which hopefully we’ll get a chance to fight for and get with the team reloading with some great draft talent and now hopefully RA, MP, and maybe an FA. Made my day waking up to this news! Go Cs…pound your chest kids!!!

Great news!! The heart of our team is back. This almost insures title contention. Now the primary objective is a 2 year deal with Jeff Green and maybe a 2 year deal with RA. And if not RA then go after OJ Mayo. I still like the idea of a sign and trade for Josh Smith but at this point we have a plethora of bigs at our disposal. Jarred Sullinger, Fab Melo, KG, Jajuan Johnson, Chris Wilcox, Brandon Bass, Greg Steimsma, Sean Williams. Ainge has to be wise with who he keeps and who he lets go. I’d keep the two draft picks, KG, Sign Chris Wilcox, sign BB, and clear the way for Jajuan Johnson to have an Avery Bradley-esquire year. With a full training camp, it’s very possible.

LOVE this, love KG. This is great on so many levels, the Celts are still contenders , they now have probably the best big man defender in the league to help teach the new drafties how to play NBA defense, and it gives us a better shot at bringing back ray.

Three years is a bit much, I dont know if he will hold up physically , and if he was considering retirement this year, what do you think will happen after two more seasons?

Next up for the Celts bring back RayRay, if not I like the OJ Mayo idea.

Get Jeff Green and Brandon Bass to sign.

counting KG what is the celts roster right now??
    pierce
    rondo
    Kg
    Bradley
    Juan Johnson
    Sullinger
    Fab Melo
    ???

Actually, its: KG, PP, RR, AB, JJ, Sullinger, Melo. Only 4 players were signed going into the draft and FA periods. EM only had a one-yr deal. They have a team option on Williams. They just offered GS a one-yr deal. And Joseph is not guaranteed as a 2nd rounder. Go Cs…

I’m a Bulls fan first and foremost BUT, I’ve always like having the Celtics in the playoffs. I’ve lived in MN since the Big Ticket was drafted and he deserves everything he has and gets. He’s a champion that’s all CLASS! BTW he’s from Chicago.

Awesome! Go C’s! If they can get Green back and a solid FA, they have a chance at a title run. And if we can finally stay healthy for a season.
