Jason Terry says he’ll give Dallas one last shot, still expects to sign with Boston Celtics
Jason Terry — one of the NBA’s top bench scorers, people! — told Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports this afternoon that he hasn’t agreed to any deal with the Boston Celtics, but there’s a “strong possibility” he will by the end of tonight.
The hold-up? Terry wants to give the Dallas Mavericks another chance to counter the offer, but — before you puncture a hole in your Mark Cuban voo-doo doll — he isn’t optimistic that they will because of cap space considerations and all that jazz.
Terry is already saying the right things as a Celtic, even though he technically hasn’t agreed to join the team yet. He wants to play alongside Ray Allen (“that wouldn’t hurt,” he said) and loves Boston’s “championship pedigree.”
“I just love that they have a championship pedigree,’’ Terry, who plays both guard spots coming off the bench, said of why he chose the Celtics. “And I think their point guard (Rajon Rondo) is the best in the business at controlling both ends of the floor. And they’ve got Hall of Famers.’’
Also, it probably didn’t hurt that the Celtics were willing to include a third year, by which time JET will be 37 years old.
Terry initially entered free agency wanting to sign with the Miami Heat (that son of a bitch!) but never heard from them (they clearly don’t realize their backup point guard was Norris Cole), and is prepared to settle for Boston (I told you I love that Jason Terry guy!) if the Mavericks don’t counter with a suitable offer (please don’t).

Ive always loved his heart. He hates the Heat just as much as we do, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be a fan favorite in the Garden. So now we have AB, JT, and EM. Who backs up AB? What will become of EM?? Will he be buried on the bench this year? And where does MP fit in the rotation?

Man, I don’t give a damn about how old JT is or will be. He is a great player and would be a great addition to the Celtics. Not jumping up and down about it, but JT is a great player and proved it when the Mavs KO’d the Heat in 2011. Does this mean we keep MD?

I love it that Terry is the first person anywhere that I’ve seen give Rondo credit for running BOTH ends of the floor.

Deron Williams is sticking with the Nets. now it’s more likely Cuban will try to keep Terry.
