Jeff Green, Boston Celtics reach contract agreement

Via the Boston Globe:

The Celtics and Jeff Green have reached agreement on a multiyear deal, agent David Falk, and president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said told the Globe it will be official Wednesday.

“We’ve reached agreement in principal for him to return,” agent David Falk said. “You see a situation like Jeff’s where there’s a tremendous level of goodwill that been built up over the last year and half. I’ve got a long memory. I remember people who treat me well and I remember people who don’t.”

The terms of the deal still haven’t been announced, which is why I had been waiting to post the news, but I can’t wait any longer since I’m going to the Red Sox-Yankees game tonight. If you hear somebody audibly weeping and shrieking from Fenway Park, you’ll know Green’s deal is worth the rumored $10 million per season.

There is a 50-50% ( well maybe slightly less, but not much less) shot that Celtics will beat the Heat in the playoffs and the whole media world will second his decision for leaving. He will kind of look and feel like a FOOL. It will bother him all year, maybe for the rest of his life. Especially, and this can happen, he argues or doesn’t get along with one of the Heat players and loses to the Celtics (not to mention lost about 2.75 Million a year; Fl taxes). Unless DH goes to a strong team Miami and Boston will be two favorites. I really like Boston now. They are not especially fast but they are strong, smart, experienced and well coached. Add Motivation now to the mix. If two of the four ( 3 rookies and Sean) do well (One will be great but two would be a blessing, three do well and we hit the lottery) Boston will do very well.. That is not a stretch either….Sullinger I think will be one…All we need is Melo or Sean to step up, be somewhat healthy for the year and that can make a huge difference..

This is far from over, so so far from over…..

With Ray or without him the Celtics only chance to win a title this year will have to be because Bradley gets even better then last year, Jeff Green plays as good or better than he did in Oklahoma…. Bass is a little better than last year… RONDO is RONDO and maybe better… The rookies have to give us something even if it’s 10 to 15 minutes a night. And obviously none of it matters if KG and PP aren’t healthy and rested for play offs. Oh and Jason Terry has to be the Jason Terry of 2011. Ray Would have helped but Fuck him, I hope they give Terry number 20.

Hey Frank, don’t forget JaJuan Johnson! I really believe he’s gonna be the x-factor of our team next year. He gives us size, which we obviously need an have a lot of this year, offensive skills, and can play stellar defense when engaged. I’m so excited to see how he matures as a player. There was an article that said that JJJ picked KG’s mind to see how he plays the defense he does. If even a percen of it translates to JJJ, we’re East Champions AT LEAST.

Oh and most importantly, REBOUNDING. Btw has anyone read the Haberstroh article about Boston losing respect from free agents?

That’s a lot of $ for JG especially after coming off a near career ending problem. Not questioning JG basketball IQ just hope they made the right choice in resigning him.

Hopefully, it’s a back-ended type deal but whatever it is the Cs are going to be better than last year’s team and way deeper. I hope MP, GS and maybe wilcox come back as we have a great mix of vets and youth. Now it’s up to Doc to utilize our youth and bigs so our rebounding improves. I really like our team and hate the Heat even more now than I did. Beating them in the playoffs will be sweet. Go Cs…

We all do. And just imagine how much pent up hatred our team will have for the Heat when we play them. If David Stern The Incredible is smart, he’d have us play the Heat opening night.

Hopefully Pietrus comes back and I would love Wilcox… We were 16-4 with Bradley starting and Ray Allen out with injury. Dooling can help as long as JG and Terry are getting the bench points
