Courtney Lee says he’s interested by Boston Celtics, understands creativity needed

Courtney Lee would not mind playing for the Boston Celtics. The catch is that the money has to be right and the Boston Celtics don’t have any. It would take a sign-and-trade for the Celtics to acquire Lee, and it would take Danny Ainge clobbering a double off the Green Monster for that to happen.

Lee understands that it’s not about his interest anymore. The process has moved to Ainge and the front offices for both teams. (CSNNE)

“Houston and (Rockets general manager) Daryl Morrey . . . he loves draft picks,” Lee said. “That’s one thing you can do, sign-and-trade. With Houston loving draft picks and Boston not having money to pay a player, that may be an option for both teams.”

Lee confirmed meeting with Doc Rivers recently, but added that it was more of a feeling-out process for both sides.

“We were just hearing each other out,” Lee said. “He expressed interest. I expressed interest. So now it’s just . . . it’s not basketball-wise that needs to be discussed. It’s the front office and my agent. They need to communicate and go from there.”

“I want to win,” Lee said. “Boston is . . . everybody knows their record and what they’ve accomplished over the years, especially with Doc and having KG and Paul, Rondo’s still there. That’s a team I feel will win and continue to win. That’s one factor in the decision.”

For those of you still sore about the Perk thing. We offered Perk a 4 yr, 22 mil contract and he was idiotic enough to reject it. Would you REALLY sit there and say a center with no offensive game whatsoever, slow and cumbersome on defensive rotations, an average rebounder at best, and a fouling prone 4th quarter liability deserves more than 22 mil? I’d much rather overpay Jeff Green than a 3rd string center like Perkins. And don’t give me synergy because Perkins wasn’t contributing to anything in games. OKC is kicking themselves for the trade.
