Boston Celtics Schedule: Season Opens On October 30th In Miami, According To A Report

The full 2012-2013 NBA schedule has not been released yet, but Ira Winderman of the South-Florida Sun Sentinel reports that the Boston Celtics will open the season in Miami:

While the complete NBA schedule will not be released until later, the Sun Sentinel has learned that the Miami Heat will open the 2012-13 NBA regular season on Tuesday Oct. 30 atAmericanAirlines Arena against the Celtics.

Not only will the Celtics face their old friend and new foe, Ray Allen, they will have to endure the pain of watching the Heat’s pre-game championship ring ceremony. I’m sure both circumstances will provide plenty of motivational fodder for the hyper competitive crew in Boston. I can just imagine KG head-butting the stanchion and mumbling expletives as LeBron James tries on his championship ring for the first time.

T-100 days. The countdown begins.

Fantastic! Cs get to ruin Heat’s celebration and use game for motivation for the season (as they’ll likely not be happy [actually likely really pissed off] being there for the ring ceremony). And then Judas gets shut-down by all the Cs’ guards who choose straws to be the first to battle him. Can’t wait. Go Cs…get MP!

Don’t you think the Judas thing is a little immature…DA would have traded RA in the blink of an eye. RA did us a favor…we now have a better team. The consensus is there was blame on both sides. For someone who was trying to get people to let go of Perkins you sure seem to be holding on to some bad feelings.

No. Just said I would never use his name or initials ever again; so Judas it is. Yes, I am thrilled how things have turned out, but Judas turned his back on his teammates and an organization that paid him about $90MM over his 5 years. And yes, bad feelings for him and great feelings for Perk being GONE. You can always pass on reading my posts, especially if they are in relation to anything about the Heat. Go Cs…

So what do you suggest I call him when his name and initials revolt me? I’m actually a very selective name caller and generally agree it is immature. I could also not chime in on Heat posts or mention of that guy. Go Cs…

I loved RA when he was a Celtic. Do I think he made the right decision? No. I was disappointed when he left…but he is irrelevant to the team now just like Perkins. He’s gone. Like Doc said “….he’s not a part of us anymore…” No need to mention him at all.

Agreed, but if I cam going to comment about the Heat and him, once our guards shut him down, then I need to be able to reference him and since he is also dead to me like Doc and others I will use Judas, as that is what I believe he turned into. Sorry. Go Cs…

When we do reference last years no 20 for the Cs, the name Judas is more than fitting. As far as inmaturity goes, a little bit of that can be fun at times. You oughta lighten up and give Judas the verbal ass kicking he deserves. Think if Pierce went to the Lakers, god forbid (I KNOW HE WOULD NEVER GO TO LAL, TOO MUCH LOYALTY TO THE CELTICS), what would we call him… Judas going to Heat is just as bad IMO. And again he deserves all the abuse that he gets as a CHEAT.

Interesting choice of picture Jay. Trying to condone a scuffle or instigate something hmm?? Jk. But I’m so very excited for this. I hope Bradley is on the floor or better yet, Rondo is on the floor to eviscerate Judas and his turncoat ways. Wilcox clogging the middle and snatching offensive rebounds. Jeff Green DOMINATING whoever Miami has as their second unit. Rondo running circles around Chalmers. KG castrating Bosh. Pierce draining 3′s. Jason Terry draining 3′s. Can’t remember a holiday that I’ve been more excited for.

NBA is a business and no two teams will get more viewership than this matchup on opening day. Its load with drama. Soon as it was announced Ray choose Miami, Stern was somewhere in his chamber laughing it up and thinking about the millions he will make on October 30 and the ratings. With all that said, let’s go kick some ass. KG coming in fresh and dropping 20-10. Rondo triple double and shutting Ray down. Man I wish we had Avery Bradley. With Lee and Bradley, I don’t know who would want to bring the ball up with those two on the floor. SHUT WADE DOWN COMPLETELY! Anyways, Lee is capable so I hope he plays some excellent D. Paul Pierce and Terry dropping dagger 3s. Rondo penetrating their defense. Sullinger knows how to draw fouls so maybe he’ll draw fouls (doubt he’ll play but I’m on a roll here). I don’t know what Green’s role is but long as he runs in tranistion. Wilcox beating their bigs down the floor. Alley-oops and nice Rondo passes. I’m drunk just thinking about these things. Let’s kick their butt!

Lets not get too excited here. Miami didn’t make many moves this offseason because they don’t have to…they still got their team intact too and, as painful as it is to think about, still got better. We’re going to be WAY MORE than a handful, but there will be no sweeping Miami.

Guys, I think we should let Jeff Green start at the 4. I LOVE Brandon Bass. He has heart, Can absolutely let it fly, and is a great teammate for Rondo because he knows exactly where to be at all times. But with Jeff Green being our 3rd highest paid player and actually taller than Bass, I think it would make us more athletic and dynamic to start games with Green in the starting lineup. Jeff Green scores more points obviously, and the difference in rebounding is only like 1.2 or something. And as admirable as Brandon Bass’s defensive efforts are, Jeff Green can absolutely man-up someone better.

People often say how Jeff Green was overrated because he played lots of minutes in OKC and wasn’t very efficient. To those people, I ask this…if you were a wing player like Green, would you rather have a point guard in Rondo or Westbrook? Because in all honesty, you’d have to be someone like Kevin Durant to tolerate a “PG” like Westbrook disrupting any resemblance of an offensive flow. Jeff Green will be fine playing with Rondo coming off the bench or otherwise. So the “overrated because he isn’t efficient” argument is understandable but misguided.

JG isn’t a PF and we need Bass to defend PFs (he has more wt than JG and that is crucial). As you said, JG is a ‘wing’ player and I’d rather have some muscle in our line-up. Bass works really well with KG too. I’d rather JG be PP’s back-up and have PP cut his mins to 30 during the reg. season and give JG at least 20 mins. Just my thought on this. Go Cs…

More wit? What does that even mean? I think JG will do fine against average PF’s (Udonis Haslem, etc) But against the stars like Josh Smith, I’d rather have Bass as well. My only thing is that I don’t want to stunt the growth of Green. We’ve signed him through his prime and I think he has the potential to be a starting SF on our team. It might be a couple years before that can happen thouhgh. And JG’s mid range game might not be as auto as Bass’s but JG can get to the basket a lot easier than Bass can. LIke I said, it’s just a possibility DOc could use. I love all the possibilities we have. We could go big, we could go small and athletic, either way we’re so much closer to Finals-land now.

WT is weight which comes in handy when facing other PFs like Gasol, who JG could never guard. Bass uses his wt very well in pushing guys out from their comfort spots. But he is not as quick but it’s a different position. As you said and want (as I do too) JG is our future SF so he should get his mins there where he can learn the position from PP but also use his skills better in that role. Go Cs…get MP!

Why couldn’t JG guard Gasol? Because he’s smaller? I think Green’s length could disrupt other PFs, much the way KG’s length effects other centers like Dwight Howard. PP and KG won’t let Green get by with that contract unless he plays defense. Bass isn’t as long so those Mid-range shooter PF’s could shoot right over him. Teams seem to go smaller in the playoffs anyways, so this lineup could be crucial against Miami or Chicago. more athletic and faster hands on defense. BUt Bass has certainly pulled his weight as the starter so no need to take that away from him.

I just think Bass is a better defender and until JG proves he can defend as well as Bass then I prefer Bass. Their ht difference is only one inch so that is really meaningless. Bass proved his defense capabilities vs LBJ and others in the playoffs and I just think JG needs to beat up on wings and SFs before he steps up a grade. Go Cs…get MP!

P.S. I also think KG & PP could care less about JG’s contract. Yes, they do care that he brings effort and produces. He needs to re-establish himself and prove he was worthy of the contract to Celtics fans and mgmt. Otherwise he’ll be on the block sooner than later. Go Cs…get MP!

Okay James it sound like you’re sold on JG being a backup, but with leaving the window of possibility slightly ajar for him to usurp Bass as the PF if he shows consistent, intense defense. Because I envision a JG that’s incredibly aggressive and hungry and who probably wants it. Also, his contract still isn’t signed, because he isn’t listed on any official C’s roster…what’s up withthat?

Actually, I’d prefer CW if Bass waivers at the PF role. The contract is being held up to allow the Cs maneuverability in securing their final contracts. They can use JG’s deal to give flexibility if needed as far as pushing the cap ceiling. Otherwise, yeah, why hasn’t it happened is a great question. Go Cs…
