I’m interested in the Xmas day matchup. I think the Nets are the one team that can cause us serious headaches next year. They’ll struggle a little early on, but they’ll get hot later in the season and be the 3rd best team in the East. Plus they have a deep bench as well.

I think you’re over reaching on the Nets. The Bulls, Knicks and 76ers should be ahead of them. Go Cs…

Seriously? Teague and Johnson gave us trouble…what do you think Williams and Johnson will do? All these guys are overrated, but you’re underselling them. We’d beat all those teams you listed in 5 games or less though. Looking at our offseason acquisitions, we’ve assembled the best team in the KG era. And we stil have the bi-annual exception. Word is now that Ainge is looking at Micheal Redd, which would be stupid.

I’m not afraid of any team in the east including the Heat. I think you’re underselling the talent and defense we have. Joe Johnson is a good player but in a series vs the Cs he may have only one or two good games (25+ etc). Remember, we are a TEAM and one that has been together for years. We’re going to surprise the league and be fighting at the top for overall home-court advantage. Go Cs…

The thing is, I believe what you’re saying. I just don’t want to get overconfident because you just never know. I think the most underrated thing about us in the media is we’re no longer thin in the paint. Garnett, Wilcox, Collins, Bass, Green, and maybe Sully can all cause problems in the middle. It’s fascinating because only two of those guys were there last year and we were 8 minutes away.

That’s one of many reasons I am so confident. If healthy, and even if not so, we are so much deeper all the way to #15 (god forbid). We just have so many options. Going to be a very fun ride and I wish camp was tomorrow. Go Cs…

I agree with that but the in the middle players Greg suggests are not all “in the middle players” Bass, Green, and KG (more than I would like) are in fact perimeter players. Collins and Wilcox are not effective post scorers and only KG,Wilcox, and Sully are productive rebounders. Now I think as unit they may all do the trick but I think our post depth is not as deep as advertised.

I agree with James except about the Bulls I think with Rose on the mend and them letting their “bench mob” walk they will take a step backwards this year. Brooklyn might be good for a 4-5 seed and maybe even higher if they can wrangle a deal for Howard before the trade deadline which is still very possible.

Remember the last scene in 300? Where that one guy who was sent back to Sparta shows up with 30,000 reinforcements and they proceeded to (presumably) kick ass? That’s the 2013 Celtics.

I think you’re really underselling Collins. The jobs he’s done against Dwight Howard and even KG last year were effective. Put it this way: Fab Melo could learn a ton of man to man defense from him. And if you thought KG could man up Bosh well, Collins will just abuse him with his extra strength. He’s essentially a slightly less talented KP.

But how many times do we face Orlando or teams with great centers …maybe 8-10? I expect Fab to beat out Collins by the time the playoffs roll around because Collins is only a 3/1 player and I think Fab will be much more effective overall. We’ll see. Go Cs…

Glad we reloaded because our division will be tougher the Knicks and Brooklyn both (on paper) got better and Philly is about the same but we only beat them once during the regular season (some of that was injuries) last year.

Fab Melo will be a great player, but I just don’t see him progressing that much that fast. That just doesn’t happen. He needs to learn man-to-man defense and defensive awareness first, let alone getting meaningful minutes down the stretch.
