Jeff Green contract not done but ‘imminent,’ says agent

Jeff Green’s contract, which will reportedly pay him $36 million over four years and looks better now that Andrei Kirilenko signed for more annual money (???), is not yet done but still appears imminent. This is good, because it’d be awkward if the Celtics introduced Green as a member of the team only to let him walk later because they didn’t want to submit to his demands for an endless supply of Pez.

The two sides have agreed to the framework of a four-year, $36 million deal to return to the Celtics and Green participated in a press conference nearly two weeks ago, but Falk said they are still negotiating issues dealing with the new collective bargaining agreement.

“I expect it will be done imminently,” he said. “Just some collective bargaining issues that changed. Just some details stuff, nothing serious.”

In case you missed it, Wonderboy Intern Tom Westerholm wrote a nice piece about Green yesterday.

And if you did miss it, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU????

CelticsBlog sneeringly comments that OBVIOUSLY its impossible that Danny is trying to pull of some last minute deal. The reality is, we don’t know. Something is going on, what it is we don’t know. Could just be ironing out some kinks. Could be more.

Now if Danny is trying to work out a trade for Josh Smith or something, fine. But if we lose Green and get nothing, then all of a sudden the 2012-2013 Celtics look a lot weaker. Green was really the second tier centerpiece.

I hear reports that any sign and trade for JS would be involving Brandon Bass. Trust me, I searched every inch of the Internet for a Josh Smith-to-Celtics article.

I thought Green was already signed. They lo and behold I checked on ESPN and he was not on the Celtics’roster. that threw me for a loop because why would Green be introduced as a new Celtic if he had not been already signed?

Methinks Danny promised Green/Faulk everything that was left after filling out the remaining spots with minimum/rookie contracts. The details on such contracts vary, so Green’s contract will be he last to be signed and it will bring the C’s within $1 of the luxuryy tax. Nothing amiss.
