King of the Court podcast at 9 p.m. with ESPN Boston’s Greg Payne (new listening info)
Because of our recent merger with CLNS Radio, the King of the Court podcast now has a different call-in number: 347-215-7771.
We’ll also soon have a new link to download the show on iTunes, but since Jay King : technology :: Isiah Thomas : building an inexpensive, successful basketball team, that isn’t ready for tonight’s CLNS/Celtics Town launch.
ESPN Boston’s Greg Payne joins Jay King and Ty Ray tonight (Monday) at 9 p.m. ET to chat about the offseason, which has slowed to a crawl but still leaves us random nuggets to talk about, such as “Rajon Rondo used to play basketball in flip-flops as a child” and “Rondo believes he’ll be the greatest Celtics point guard ever in ‘maybe seven to eight years.’”
So have your Labor Day barbecue, drink a few beers, tuck your children into bed, kiss your girlfriends and wives goodnight and listen with the widget above.
Also call in at 347-215-7771. We’d love to hear from you.

There are a couple of things here about Rondo that I especially disagree with. One is the comment that the inside-out offense was somehow ideal for Rondo. Come on people, let’s think back to when we had Shaq and Rondo was averaging 15 assists per game. Basically, Rondo can make any offense work, and while he can do a lot with an inside out offense, he really really loves having a big man inside who takes up space and likes to finish.
Also, let’s stop looking at Rondo as some kind of robot who runs what Doc tells him to run. I think it’s rather obvious that Doc is giving more and more control to Rondo. It should be clear that Rondo will, over time, sculpt the offense. We’ll start the season running more Doc than Rondo, but don’t be surprised if we end it running more Rondo than Doc.
