Pierce considers working for C’s after playing days

Pierce working the sidelines could be something we see more of after playing days are over

In an interview with the great Mike Gorman for CSNNE, Paul Pierce opened up about still being on the team and worked his crystal ball, forecasting a future with the C’s after his playing days are over.

In the same interview Pierce discussed how the possibility of playing for another team crossed his mind while Kevin Garnett pondered retirement.  Like seemingly every valuable member of the Celtics, Pierce felt being dangled as trade bait did prepare him for potentially having to lace up his shoes in a different locker room.

Pierce also spoke about a future with the Celtics even after his playing days are over.

“I was telling somebody the other day I’m pretty much institutionalized [in Boston],” Pierce said. “If I went somewhere else I couldn’t see it. Hopefully I can be here a lot longer than even my playing days. Just to help along with coaching and management, I’ve really given some thought to that, giving back to what the game has given to me. And I hope I can continue to do that in Boston.”

Pierce on the coaching staff makes a whole lot of sense–  his footwork is some of the best in the league, and the fact that he has managed to maintain his scoring prowess after losing a step to the age gods means he has some valuable knowledge to leave for future Celtics.  Tyronn Lue better check his rear view mirror, PP might be fast approaching.

Following the theme of tangential twitter news at the end of posts, this picture of the Celtics on the way to Istanbul via Paul Pierces twitter account is a gem (see: KG’s face).
