No comment from Bass about possibly coming off the bench

Brandon Bass started 39 regular season games for the Celtics last season (and 59 including the playoffs) but recent comments by Doc Rivers suggest that the starting lineup could be in a state of flux. In addition to Bass, starting lineups featuring Jared Sullinger and Darko Milicic have been discussed, possibly changing throughout the regular season. Bass was asked to comment on a potential move to the bench following practice today (via ESPN Boston):
“I have no comment on that question. No comment. We’re going to keep getting better every day. We have to get better as a team, and I think Doc will make the best decision for the team.”
While I’m sure Bass would like to remain the starter, I don’t think he’s the type to get all bent out of shape if Doc decides to bring him off the bench this season. Bass is capable of providing instant offense, and with a bit of a logjam at the four spot (between Bass, Sullinger, Jeff Green and possibly Garnett) moving him out of the starting lineup might be a boon for the second unit. I think Bass is being sincere when he says he trusts Doc to make that decision, as he’s been anything but a diva during his time in Boston. Bass will likely play around 25 minutes a night whether or not he starts.

I’m for starting Bass, as he played very well last year and has earned the opportunity with solid and consistent play, including very good defense. Go Cs…

Im for Bass keeping his job as we. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but “no comment” usually happens when you’re trying to refrain from showing how you really feel. For Bass to lose his job to someone with no experience at this level would be devastating to his morale. Especially since he’s trying hard to expand his game and to diversify his talents. Sullinger will be a great player, but Bass’s experience with the group should outweigh Sully’s greater potential.

Bass is the definition of consisten, you know what you’re gunna get from him night in, night out. Those other guys (Sully, green, etc..) have yet to prove themselves. bass shoud definitely begin the season with the starting lineup
