Really feel for Christmas, who passed up big money overseas to join the Celtics and continue working toward his dream of making an NBA roster. Cutting him this early could be so he can land sooner on his feet overseas or with another NBA team.
By cutting both Christmas and Smith (and keeping Joseph), the Celtics would still have one spot open. That could mean Micah Downs has really impressed the coaching staff, or the Celtics could still be planning to add another veteran point guard.

I’m going to miss Xmas as I thought he has a lot of potential but am stoked the KJ is sticking. Obviously he has shown his value in practice, as his minutes in games are about nil to just a few. Go Cs…
