Rondo’s play attracted Jeff Green to resign with Celtics

The Celtics ran a three-hour practice this afternoon in which every player except Avery Bradley participated (note: Wilcox, Darko, and Barbosa all joined in). Nice to see everyone play together and build chemistry as the Celtics prepare for their opener less than a week away. Also, Jeff Green dropped this gem of a quotation when asked why he chose to resign with the boys from Boston (via ESPN Boston):
“Turn the cameras right there. That guy right there. Rajon. I wanted to play with him. He’s the best point guard in the league. I mean, who doesn’t want to play with a good point guard? Then you’ve got guys in the locker room like [Kevin Garnett], Paul Pierce, and now with the addition of [Jason Terry], and Brandon [Bass] coming back, and you’ve got Courtney [Lee]. I mean, we have a hell of a team. Who doesn’t want to be a part of something special like this? We have a great opportunity to win a championship. I want to win, so this is a great chance for me to do that.”
Green has progressively been quieting the skeptics and turning them into loud optimists by showing that he can be a integral piece for this Celtics team moving forward. It’s important to note that Rondo and Green have looked more appealing than a three-day weekend of late with their passing and finishing on the break.
Green’s quotation also speaks volumes to the recruitment abilities which Rondo now possesses. As super-teams are formed across the NBA, stars attract a supporting cast. This quotation from Green laments what we already knew about Rajon Rondo: he’s really good and makes players around him better.
