DeMarcus Cousins ‘highly interests’ Boston Celtics

Via ESPN:

There’s a growing sense among potential suitors that under-fire Kings general manager Geoff Petrie, who has overseen zero trips to the playoffs under five coaches in the six-plus seasons since Rick Adelman left town, would be willing to move Cousins, preferably in exchange for a dependable veteran of quality or two who could bring some instant improvement to a franchise stuck in lottery land and still plagued by an uncertain future in terms of where this team will be calling home in the long term.

Yet it’s believed that the Maloofs just aren’t ready yet to entertain the idea of parting with the mercurial center before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, not even after Cousins got suspended for turning on perhaps his biggest non-Maloof supporter in the organization by arguing so heatedly last weekend with Kings coach Keith Smart.

Stay tuned, though. Cousins told USA Today’s Sam Amick earlier this week that he won’t be pushing for a trade, but Cousins’ new agent — Dan Fegan — has a contentious history with Petrie after the Kings passed on Ricky Rubio to select Tyreke Evans in the 2009 draft. Trade speculation involving Cousins, now that Steve Nash has returned to calm the Trade Pau hysteria in Lakerland for the moment, is bound to be new favorite sport in 2013 in the slice of the Twitterverse devoted to the NBA.

Front-office sources say that Boston and Detroit, just to name two teams, have let it be known that they are highly interested if and when Cousins does become available. Rest assured there will be more.

I have to admit, it’s not the world’s most surprising news that the size-starved Celtics (or anyone else, for that matter) are interested in the 6-foot-11, 270-pound, 22-year old averaging 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds, even if he shoots an abominable (for a big man) 41.2 percent and has more suspensions under his belt than the kid who used to smoke weed in plain view of teachers in the back of class at my high school.

I’m in favor of most potential trades for Cousins that don’t include Avery Bradley. Once Bradley starts being included, my thoughts turn to, “Mehhhh” and “Well, just how crazy is he?”

I live in SAC and this just isn’t going to happen unless a team gives a lottery pick and quality player or we give JG, BB and CL (or some combo but JG definitely). Cousins is a head case and KG might be able to straighten him out, but I have to believe other teams have more to offer. Truthfully, it would be better to trade JG and BB (or CL) for Tyreke Evans. And I would not give Fab as he could play center and if we got Cousins he could be a PF. He does have the talent to play that position. Go Cs…better watch out Warriors are going to be very tough tonight. I predict another loss, though and sub .500.

YEP gstate it going to give us a huge matchup nightmare tomight and I predict David Lee will grab 15-20 boards.I agree with your thought on Demarcus Cousins compared to a team like Detroit we do not have the assets they can offer a high first round pick along with a Drummond or Maxiell But I dont think Evans would work here we have AB and as talented as Evans is I would rather have AB on ball defence shutting down the NBA’s best 1 and 2 guards, now getting back to tonight AB would be great tonight against Steph Curry and Klay Thompson to bad he wont be there and we could get lit up by them my xfactors in tonight game for the Celts Bass must play tough down low and make those jumpers and for the Warriors Landry and that GSTATE second unit they come in games and can light you up or bring you back in a game there bench has been key to why they are 20-10 this year Jarret Jack has been great all season if we can win it will be huge and take away that thursday nightmare I have been having GO CELTICCCS PS I wish we could trade JG but no one will take that deal with 3 years remaining CL in the right package teams would take him for sure great analysis

I wouldn’t use Tyreke as the SG, but as PP’s sub. I love RR & AB for the next decade. TE would be a great wing player and that should be his position as a slasher, etc. And because he started as a PG he can handle the ball. Ergo, JG can and should go. Go Cs…please show up ready to play tonight!
