Boston Celtics trade rumors 2013: Los Angeles Clippers calling about Kevin Garnett; Eric Bledsoe part of offer

Sources tell Sporting News that the #Clippers have contacted the #Celtics about Kevin Garnett. Offer would include Caron Butler and Beldsoe.

Obviously, any team can inquire about any player (“Hey Pat Riley, we’d like to inquire about the availability of LeBron James in exchange for Jason Terry?”), so this simply means that the Clippers are interested. There is also plenty of reason to believe that KG wouldn’t be willing to waive his no-trade clause.

But if KG WAS going to waive his clause, the Clippers would make a lot of sense for him as a destination. His minutes would be limited comfortably, surrounded by talented bigs and younger players, and his defensive skill and intensity would push Los Angeles even further into title contention.

As for the Celtics? This would be a move toward the future. They would acquire the point guard they need in Eric Bledsoe, but it’s hard to imagine Boston being competitive in the playoffs without their defensive anchor.

Bottom line: This might be a move Boston considers if things go south, but if they continue to win with the current lineup, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to break it up.

“The point guard they need”…what about RR??? Try back-up PG. At least I hope that’s what you meant. Other than that it’s a useless story. Go Cs…build for next year!

Celtics need an inside big. Only makes sense if it’s Jordan and Bledsoe.

The celtics need a big without giving anything up…even if its K Martin, this season isn’t over yet we just need some help due to the loss of Sully. Still a top defensive team right now and our offense is better in the last week than it has been all year. We need rebounding help.

      we HAD too many guards.
right now AB, Jet, Lee and Barbosa are just fine for the minutes.
Unless Wilocx stays healthy for the remainer of the season we can’t do without Bass, either. Or sign K-Mart and trade Bass for a center, but I don’t see many teams rushing for this kind of trade

        exactly.

Like to see Melo get some mins. Collins had a good game against Clippers but it was his first good game this year and his upside was reached years ago.

if only the Cs wouldn’t squander each and every lead!
I think Doc will never play Melo in crunch time, but he could easily get some minutes if the Cs were up by 20 late in the 4th. Maybe.

No fking way. Garnett is ours and I would not trade him or Pierce for any player in the league. It is all about loyalty…
