Leandro Barbosa done for the year with ACL tear; Celtics rumored to try to bolster backcourt with Shelvin Mack, Delonte West not considered
Gary Washburn confirms our worst suspicions: Barbosa is in fact out for the season. Those ACLs have been nasty for the Celtics, this one was easier to accept as it was clear Barbosa was in serious pain last night after the injury, whereas Rondo’s was more of subtle killer.
The Celtics are now short another ball-handler and eyes immediately turn to former Celtic draftee Delonte West and current Maine Red Claw Shelvin Mack. The former was signed to the Texas Legends D-league team, but has yet the report. The latter had a short run with the Wizards before John Wall came back from injury and played effectively. Adrian Wojnarowski speaks on both of these potential Celtics additions:
It also becomes more and more likely the Celtics will look for a ball handler in any trade heading towards the deadline, as the Celtics continue to look for point guard and big man as we get closer to February 21.

I really don’t understand why the Cs don’t go after West, a combo guard that doesn’t require any trade, has proved his value in the past and knows the system.
he’s not a bigger weirdo than when he was suspended for carrying guns on a motorbike, is he?

I heard his behavior is getting worse. How can they not give him a chance. He can save the season from total collapse. He’ll be so happy to be back that he will be an angel for half a season. He was part of KGs favorite roster the 2011 Celtics

There’s a reason why the NBA doesn’t want Delonte West. He’s rotten, he’s really talented but he’s detrimental for the teams. Remember that Von Wafer brawl? He’s been taking anti depressants all his career. It’s a shame someone with so much talent can’t work on his behavior.
Don’t Worry Celtics fans! you know who’s coming to save the season… that’s right, we’ve got “The Answer”.

Don’t say Iverson. They have to take a chance on d west. He’s the only guy that can step in the rotation and not miss a beat.

DW is bipolar and having lived with such an individual in my past unless he takes his medication and adheres to an extremely strict program and regimen then mood swings can happen at any time and that’s when bad things, outbursts, etc. can happen. The Cs dealt with this and obviously because he was let go they have no interest in dealing with such a situation again. I wish DW the best, but he is not the solution everyone thinks he is considering the potential volatile nature of the illness. Go Cs…

I’d rather revive Payton* from his grave than Iverson.
at least he’d be willing to pass the orange.
seriously, if we rule West out the only viable alternative for the Cs is to sign Kenyon Martin and trade Bass** for a good/decent point guard. Melo will have to step up, too.
*the fact that he’s one of my all time favs is incidental. not.
**the fact that he’s my least fav Celtic is incidental. not.
