Reports: Boston Celtics sign Terrence Williams to 10-day contract

We can safely assume that Danny Ainge isn’t finished looking for roster moves just yet, but according to the Globe’s Gary Washburn, the Celtics have signed Terrence Williams, previously of the Nets and Rockets.
When Williams was drafted in 2009, teams were enamored with his athleticism and his potential to be an excellent defender. But he never stuck in the NBA, bouncing around from team to team and being waived in both Houston and Detroit. Williams spent the past few months playing in China with the Guangdong Southern Tigers.
Williams is very athletic and has potential coming out of his ears, and a 10-day contract never hurt anyone. The Celtics need help at just about every position, and Williams fits two major needs for Boston:
- As pointed out by the good folks over at Celtics Hub, he can rebound. A 20.1 defensive rebound percentage is excellent at his size.
- He is a living, breathing human being with working limbs.
The Celtics desperately need some people to give the starters a reliable breather during this upcoming West Coast swing, so it’s good to see them add bodies before the games begin. More analysis to come, but this is a good signing by Ainge.

At one time Terrence Williams was supposed to be this big time player. Wasn’t he a lottery pick or something? After that he just simply disappeared out of sight. Hopefully he will have a chance to prove himself in Boston.

Based on his stats and where he went to school (Louisville) this might be a great pick-up. Let’s hope Doc actually uses TW. Go Cs…

I think this has potential to be a good pick up just like James said Doc must use him and not have him riding bench but I dont know how good he is on D

although I’m skeptical about his actual usage under Doc’s system, he’s probably (hopefully?) a solid role player.
alas, not the one we needed (most), since he’s not a point guard or a center.
