Boston Celtics are unimpressed by Miami Heat winning streak, sky still blue

Jason Terry isn't impressed by super long winning streaks.

Some anecdotes are so predictable, they aren’t really news even when they are breaking. But it’s the second of consecutive days off, and things are kind of slow, so guess what! You’ll never believe what Paul Pierce and Jason Terry had to say about the Heat! Hint: They don’t like them.

From ESPN Boston:

“Not really impressed with it or anything that they do,” said Terry, who has a history with Miami from his Dallas days when the two teams met in the 2011 Finals. “So, for me, it’s more about what our team is doing and how we’re coming together as a unit.”

Silly as it might sound, Terry suggested the Celtics are more concerned with earning some revenge from the bottom-dwelling Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday than the expansive winning streak the East-leading Heat might be carrying when they visit TD Garden on Monday. [...]

Asked whether he wants the Heat to still be carrying that streak on Monday, Pierce offered, “I really don’t even care. I hope they lose every game the rest of the season. I just worry about what this team does.”

Pierce’s comments are no surprise (he goes on to say that the streak is impressive, he just doesn’t enjoy hearing about it all the time). But Jason Terry is on his next-level troll game, much like he was at the beginning of the season. Not only is he unimpressed by Boston’s bitter rivals’ long winning streak, he claims the team wants to beat the 14-50 Bobcats even more than the Heat after the drubbing Charlotte placed on the Celtics earlier this week.

Terry is, of course, lying his ass off. But the disrespect is duly noted and appreciated, nevertheless.

Anybody remember the 99 Knicks, the 07 Mavs or the 11 Spurs? All top seeds knocked out in the first round. Doesn’t matter how much you win during the regular season…anything can happen in the playoffs.

There are unintended consequences from winning streaks. It becomes about the streak. In Miami’s case, it is always about the playoff so a winning streak is distracting. Why ask the opposition about Miami. Nothing the Heat does will impress anyone. Miami is not in New York, LA, or Chicago. And that’s fine with me. Go Heat.
