The third quarter came a little early today for the Boston Celtics.

After struggling in many a recent third quarter, it was the first quarter that did them in during today’s 114-105 loss.  A dominant 37-19 opening period in favor of the Denver Nuggets forced the Celtics to claw their way back into the game.  When they tied the score at 66-66 midway through the third, it looked like Boston might come away with the win.  But the Nuggets ran away from the Celtics in the fourth, as Boston looked tired from expending so much energy to erase the early deficit. A night after an incredibly weak NBA dunk contest disappointed all of Western civilization, two Chris Bosh free throws with 5.0 seconds remaining gave the Eastern Conference All-Stars a 141-139 victory. A record crowd of 108,713 fans watched the game, held in the new Cowboys Stadium. Read more »
