You know what would make the NBA’s dunk contest WAY more interesting? Match up a couple of these guys against the NBA’s best dunkers. What if there was nationwide dunk tournament, and the top 4 dunkers got to compete in the NBA dunk contest against 4 dunkers from the NBA. Who wouldn’t watch that? How much more entertaining would that be than watching Nate Robinson win his thirteenth straight dunk contest?

After hearing Shaq tell Jimmy Kimmel that the Celtics would be a good place to play, and then hearing Shaq is “close” to signing with the C’s, I’m feeling  nostalgic for young Shaq. You know, coast to coast, breaking backboards, stuffing alley oops Shaq. Well, here he is:

Here are Larry Bird’s top 10 playoff plays, as presented by NBA TV. I think I could watch Larry Bird highlights all day. Does this mean I have a problem?  I’m not the only one, am I?

Kobe Bryant and Tim Thomas compete in the 1996 McDonald’s All-American dunk contest. Surprisingly, Bryant is the worst of the four dunkers the video shows in the second round. He has neither the creativy nor the power a competitive dunker must have. Watch for Corey Benjamin’s unnameable dunk at 1:35 in the video. It’s absolutely ridiculous–one of the best dunks I’ve ever seen.
