Jeremy Lin, the former Harvard star, is receiving some serious love for his summer league play. But that’s not why I brought Lin up. I could really care less that someone from Harvard played pretty well in the NBA Summer League. It’s nice to root for the underdog and everything, but I have no ties to Jeremy Lin and won’t pretend to just because he played college ball in Massachusetts.

No, I brought Lin up because of a quote screamed at him during the summer league. I think it was meant as some sort of racial slur, which is sad. But, well, if it wasn’t racist then it’d be awesome. (NBA.com)

At Harvard, all was not perfect. Lin dealt with racial slurs and plenty of heckling from what is supposed to be the nations brightest in Ivy League gyms. At Summer League he accidentally hit a player and a fan yelled “He went ninja on him.”

“He went ninja on him.” In a completely non-racist way, I think I’m going to adopt that quote as my own. When Paul Pierce dunked on Chris Bosh last season, Pierce went ninja on him. When the Celtics completely bottled up Lebron, they went ninja on him. When I murder a post in the best way possible, I went ninja on it.

What do you guys think? Should I keep that quote as my own? Should I continue striving to go ninja on whatever’s in my path?
