I’ve got a confession to make: A beautiful pass excites me more than anything else life has to offer. So you take your high-flying windmills; I’ll take my no-look, around-the-back passes. Or even simple bounce passes thrown while looking directly at a teammate. Because there is nothing in the world more visually pleasing than a nice pass. Nothing at all.

P.S. – I’m pretty sure Mark Jackson posted up only once in those four minutes of highlights. Weird.

(Note: I did not intend for the title of this post to be nearly as sexual as it sounds… seriously.)

Is there anything prettier than a nice pass?

Some people would claim a dunk is, but not me.  There is nothing in basketball more sacred, more pure, than a pretty bounce pass or a no-look threaded through traffic.  There are a lot of people who can dunk a basketball, but surprisingly few have the court vision and creativity to consistently make great passes.

Since I’ve now decided once and for all that passing is the most beautiful art in basketball, I now bring to you my favorite non-Celtics YouTube highlight reel.  Before you shake your head in disbelief and ask, “Why in the hell did you choose Mark Jackson?”, just check out the highlights.  I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Jackson was one of the few players in the history of the game who not only always made the right pass, but did it with flair.  Similar to Bob Cousy before him, Jackson was a fundamental player who just happened to be a showman.
